Gonzalez has until noon today to accept the IBF title eliminator fight against Beterbiev. My guess is if he wanted the fight he would have responded already. Apparently, next in line would be Karo Murat. :barf
The deadline was supposed to be yesterday. I guess they gave him more time. It'll suck if he turns it down though.
Beter should have taken Kov's offer. How does a fight with Murat prepare him more? It doesn't, he can't even find a decent opponent now. Another Haymon **** up.
The Kovalev wouldn't have happened anyway. They couldn't find the money or a tv date for a fight in 2015.
WTF... it's not like Gonzalez has visa issues, he fought in Canada in 2015!! No reason to pass on it, come on.
It's official. Gonzalez said no... Murat said yes! Beterbiev -vs- Murat on November 28th on the undercard of Degale-Bute.
Karo Murat works for a fight of this nature. Biev just needs a stepping stone at this moment, not really a challenge. If I were Gonzales I wouldn't fight BadBiev at this point either. 2 back to back losses would make it very difficult to get the career back on track. He should go for suitable opponents and try to get a mando position for later next year after 2 or 3 fights in the top 20-50 region.
So Bernard Hopkins, Erik Skoglund, Andrzej Fonfara, Sean Monaghan, Jean Pascal, Sullivan Barrera, Eleider Alvarez, Nadjib Mohammedi, Yuniesky Gonzalez, Edwin Rodriguez, and Igor Mikhalkin either refused to fight Beterbiev or couldn't for whatever reason, be it they share the same promoter, already had fights scheduled, or couldn't get a visa and now we're left with Murat? Is that right?
Exactly. But to be fair, we already knew the eliminator bout wasn't gonna be a serious challenge for Beterbiev anyways.
