    hmm maybe in a lb 4 lb sense. golovkin has the highest ko% ever amongst all middleweight champions? him or hagler? but still, kovalev is a hard punching light heavyweight.

    Well Kovalev sparred Golovkin and from witnesses in the gym was intimated so badly that Sanchez replaced him. Now they are good friends, but Kovalev's own words he admits to Gennady hitting much harder than himself. I will try to dig up the interview and post a link.

    Like I said before how does Kovalev know how hard he punches, has he punched himself?

    As far as the sparring session, that was right before GGG was going to have a match and was at the end of his camp, whereas Kovalev was just starting his camp for a match and was out of shape and doughy.

    This is one theory. Perhaps taking a punch is different when you have prepared for a fight than sparring?

    Kovalev's punches are like the end of the whip which break the sound barrier (sonic boom you hear). Kovalev's punches are obviously harder. You can see it. GGG hits hard, it is obvious, but Kovalev's power is a little freaky, like the guy.
