At a time with so much free boxing, a Golovkin PPV is a waste

The boxing PPV format is drying, it only survived the 2010's because stars from earlier eras like Floyd and Manny were still around. Cotto-Alvarez deserves a PPV because Cotto is from Manny and Floyd's era and has that base already. But why the hell are people trying to push GGG as a new PPV star as if boxing needs a new PPV star? **** ppv. We're getting more free fights on more networks than we've seen before. Golovkin is dragging boxing backwards to that PPV format ****, this is 2015, not the mid 90's. And people are saluting this?

I understand what you mean, but PPV is for superstars.
HBO and Showtime is lacking in the boxing department because it is not their money making service, drama is.
Maybe PPV's can benefit from the premium service dropping it. It will make it cheaper.
Haymon may have saw that coming years ago. He abandoned premium cable altogether.

Now GGG is bad for pursuing PPV?

The OP really doesn't understand the economics involved. HBO has slashed its fight budget from what it once was; it's going to be more reliant on PPV for big fights, not less.

PBC is working because Haymon's not afraid to lose other people's money to grow the business in an attempt to eliminate the competition, acquire more viewers, and control more fighters.

HBO has three choices: they settle for not being the premiere boxing network and reduce their fight budget so they become more of a niche player, they increase it to put on better fights, or go for #3- which they are going to implement- which involves using the PPV model to subsidize funding fights that fans want to see, but that they won't fund out of pocket anymore.

15 years ago they would've had GGG-Lemieux on regular HBO, but this isn't 15 years ago.

They're trying to develop new PPV draws because, frankly, they have to. There are few PPV draws left, and with the exception of Canelo, they're pretty much all in the final innings of their careers.

Mayweather only sold 400K PPV's his last fight. If Golovkin sells more than 400K, he's a PPV star. I'd totally buy this fight if I had the dough right now.

    :deal

Also when you talk about "free boxing" why would I want to see Deontay Wilder or Adrien Broner fight tomato cans that are basically there to pad records?

Now Ive heard everything LOL Some clown said PPV's were only good because Floyd was active ROFLMAO!!! Now be honest look at Mayweathers PPV performances against an injured Pacquaio & against the patsy Berto. Were they worth paying big$$$ for ???? No Way in Hell !!
Compare those fiascos to a potentially certain war in GGG-Lemieux a fight between two hard hitting sluggers .Either one could close the show with one punch.
Someone said Mayweather made PPV ? ROFLMAO His PPV's RUINED boxing as a main line sport He was a boil on boxings a$$ I sincerely hope he's gone for good

All bias aside and obviously speaking, this PPV stuff really strikes a blow to the bank account.

I guess these guys have infinite money to throw at rich people. I like going to the events themselves , it's better live. I buy PPV's very sparingly or I go to someone else's spot and watch them.

I need my money to keep up with the fluctuating gas prices here in the states. . $60 is a weeks worth of gas or a orgy with skanks in Tijuana.:yep

Why blow tht all on two dudes I can watch for free across the border in a bar and then get "full service" afterward? Is GGG gonna send me a drink and a *****? Is Mayweather gonna give me one of them hoes he got for my $70 bucks? No!

I disagree, and I might be in the minority on this, but I will gladly pay for a PPV when it’s a big match. It would be a travesty to have a big fight like this on network TV with their sub-par coverage and their annoying commercials between rounds.

Boxing is meant to be done on Pay-Per-View on Premium TV channels like HBO and Showtime! Boxing is supposed to be special, and you don’t get that big fight feel on PBC or ESPN.

ESPN is the “little leagues” when it comes to boxing. Compared to HBO / HBO PPV, PBC telecasts have been terrible to okay at best. (the biggest part of the PBC btw besides the commercials are the commentators)

Some people like the PBC and will probably disagree with me. “hey it’s free and they do a decent job of presenting the fights in HD” I get that all I’m saying is the PBC is NOT anywhere near as good as an HBO PPV! Yes it costs money, if you’re a real boxing fan you will gladly pay for it for an awesome night of boxing.

As a fan, I want to pay for this Pay-Per-View. It absolutely deserves to be a PPV. The P4P #1 is on the Undercard. DL and GGG are at the top of the MW division. What more do you want as a fan?

    Hey Stupid
Is GiGi's skin color much different than ODLH's?
    None
Only the level of opposition differentiates them, but that's one of the great things about PPV. If you don't like the card, you ain't gotta buy it.
I any kind of entertainment, there's this marketing acceptance called, crossover. That's where buyers are comprised of all types of people; black, white, Hispanic, Asian.
That's what made Mayweather a Mega-PPV star. All those different people brought his shows.

Can Little g achieve PPV crossover? Not likely. His audience will very likely follwo the Klitscho trend.

The reason you do not WANT him to become a PPV star is because of his skin color. Let's not beat around the bush here attaboi.

Really, it doesn't matter to me. I don't take it personally, because I won't buy it and can watch on d/l if I want.

You are just a whining little wuss who cry about racism against poor white people when you feel things aren't going your way.
That's cool too, but just don't load up your guns and go shooting up the local black church or BET headquarters.
