One of the few things in boxing that generally interest me is ones ability to take punch. Looking at foreman in that bigger frame he was never knocked down but took I think the biggest punches ive ever seen flush. From ****ey/Holyfield to Morrison, some fights he swelled up ,but this guy never out and hit directly on the button, sometimes taking 20 shots in a row to the head by Holyfield in 1991,and ate some Morrison good night hooks but didn't go down. I go far as to say he may have had the best chin in history looking at his fights.

The reason for the post is hes either number one or two from any list as I could see, who would be ranked over him considering he walked through literal bombs at times and didn't flinch all but once with holyfields sneaky left hook which he stumbled for about 2 seconds ? Does anyone see where he was almost stopped on a punch, not punches?

I really, really respect Foreman. A 40+ year old, overweight great fighting guys like Briggs and Morrison who were truly murderous punchers. He wasn't even hurt.

Foreman had a very good chin. But the competition wasnt that good in his second carreer with the exception for Holyfeild, who wasnt that big a puncher anyway. Had he faced Tyson, Bowe and Lewis we would have gotten some answers as to how good his chin really was. Still, he took some bombs flush without blinking, so it must have been pretty good.

We would have gotten some answers as to how good his chin really was? Strange thing to say. I think he gave plenty of answers.

I think it is obvious that his ability to take single shots was excellent, but due to being so slow he could be overwhelmed.

Foreman had a great chin overall but the Lyle fight was one where he got floored 2-3 times

Coetzer landed some pretty good shots on Foreman in their fight and George didn't bat an eyelid. Now Pierre wasn't the biggest puncher but a flush hook right on the ear will usually do SOMEthing. Foreman looked like he could have been at a picnic, tbh. Very solid chin, I'd say.

I wouldnt rate it the greatest chin ever, but it is probably top 10 and i think it is arguably number one.

Holyfield, ****ey, Morrison and Briggs hit him with clean punches.

Holyfield hits hard enough to drop Tyson, Bowe and Mercer, and he hit Foreman with 10+ power punches in a row.

Briggs is very hard hitter (ask Lewis, Mercer and Lyakhovich).

Morrison and ****ey both have one of the hardest left hooks ever.

So yes, Foreman's chin was great, top-5 of all time.

I said he had a very good chin. There can be no arguing against it. The threadstarter however made the claim that he probably had the best chin of all time. I don't think he proved that. Im not saying its not possible, just that it is unproven. Had he been able to take flush bombs from Lewis or Tyson we would have had more to go on. What's so strange with that?

I'm one of the people who think more weight can help punch resistance. He wouldn't be the first boxer who was chinny when young and scrawny and solid when heavier.

Stewart hit every bit as hard as Lyle! no matter how big puncher you are eating 17/20 unanserwed shots from a decent puncher like Holyfield says enough.

The fact that he took Holyfields shot tells me that he had a very good chin. There we can agree. But how he would react to being by puncher like Tyson or Lewis is not a given. Maybe he could have handled it, or maybe he couldnt.

As to Stewart hitting harder than Lyle, maybe. They both hit pretty hard, but Foreman was a lot less recless during his second carreer.
