What did ya'll think of cleverly last night?

:goodI like Clev. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see him last night, but I will catch a replay of the fight soon. I like his style.

 

This was the first time I saw him, and he made me a fan. Huge heart, but I am left wondering if he would have fared better had he used that left to the body more. He put up a great fight against the bigger man and was close until his nose was broken. I'd watch him again.

 

I don't know if he can be force, but he can beat many of the guys in the division. Not Stevenson(although he could push him), but Braehmer would be a pick em fight.

He should have stuck with the jab last night. He was outboxing Fonfara early and the jab was really making things happen for him. He was making Fonfara fight his fight. He was able to land it repeatedly, seemingly at will.

Unfortunately,the fight evolved into a back and forth of them taking turns on each other. Fonfara, with far superior power, will win that battle. They needed a better gameplan in there, especially late in the fight. Use the jab, counter some shots rather than cover up or take it whenever Fonfara would throw. Cleverly had the foot and hand speed advantage, but they didn't utilize it beyond going out there snd simply trying touch his opponent and try to win on workrate alone. Still Cleverly showed heart and determination, and I think he made some fans last night.

 

Braemer would murder Clev. The Brits know it that's why the fight hasn't happened yet.

 

Who has Braehmer murdered, or even beaten, that would make you think he would murder Cleverly?

 

Missed the fight; was out with the wife. But from what I've read it was a real war. I thought Fonfara would wipe Cleverly out based on the Kovalev KO but then again the Pole isn't on the same level as the Russian when it comes to power. This win could put Fonfara back in the ring against Stephenson.

 

Had him sweeping the first 4 pretty clearly.

He was landing the L hook and the OH R and everytime he did, Fonfara would retreat or be stunned backwards.

In the 5th I think, he started that Ali shuffle and bolo punching. Which created quite the stir in Fonfara who up until then had been quietly giving away rds, allowing Clevs to sweep the first minute of action then fight even for the remainder of each rd.

It lit a fire in Andrej and he started sitting down hard on his shots.

I think Nate's bravado lost him that fight.
1. He's not Kovalev or even Enzo Mac in terms of power. He's a volume puncher who outlands and outlasts his opponents to victory.
2. Just cuz you trust your chin and your defense, don't mean you let a guy throw 30 unanswered punches to your face and head.

He essentially couldnt truly hurt Fonfara, so he wanted to showboat his D and his chin and some flash.

But he got himself busted up in the process and he piissed away a great potential win.:hi:

 

I was impressed with him in moments but I think he fought a dumb fight vs Fonfara who really only fights in straight lines and backs straight up probably could have been better suited to box and move but allowed himself into a battle

 

Thats what i noticed also. The showboating in the 5th lit a fire under Fonfara's ass and he started to really turn it on. I also noticed the same in that Clev would box well in the first minute of alot of rounds only to slow down and then cover up more in the second half.

 

He's always been slightly underrated because of the Kovalev fight. The fact that Fonfara didn't seem to really hurt Clev shows just how hard Kovalev hits. There's nothing wrong with Clev's resistance despite some of the lowlifes on here declaring anyone who gets knocked down 'Glass Jawed' and anyone who is fringe world level or below a 'bum'. Clev is neither of these, but I fear he will be a gatekeeper type fighter from now on.

Was at the fight and loved it. Wasn't rooting for him but Clev gave us a fight of the year candidate. Hell of a chin and high activity, thought he came close to winning it. If his very good chin holds up I could see him outpointing stevenson

 

He should learn how to move his head and counter, but his biggest problem is lack of power

 

Not sure which is funnier, that or the fact that Glazewski is among the better opponents that Braehmer has faced thus far. Oosthuizen represensts a step up. Let's see where that goes.
