Macklin vs Welborn

Macklin is finished. He will regret being an arrogant idiot and not getting good pay days for the domestic clashes that were out there.

 

Got a funny feeling Liam smiths first defense will be Macklin, was at the fight sat.but Macklin not ranked at LM.

 

His got to b realistic. Welborn best wins r at area level at welter then light middle. Macklin went to war with him got tagged regularly and was outworked yes the classy work and shots came from Macklin but he sud b blowing welborn away like smith and gavin if he want to move beyond domestic level..

 

Also the 2nd low blow was a good shot on the belt line. Macklin shorts were very high. He was feeling the pace and took advantage of it. Credit to welborn gave it a real go and got no credit from the sky commentary.

 

Well below what he is capable of doing. Matt's done.

He can compare his situation to that of Andy Lee's, but Matt has been on the decline for a while now. And the last guy to bomb him out (I forget his name), Lee NEVER got dealt with like that when he hit a rough patch.

Too many wars, too many bad decisions (moving trainers every other week, changing divisions at this stage in his career) have cost him, IMO.

There probably hasn't been a more entertaining fighter in that division from these shores in the last 10 years like Matt. So credit where it's due. But he's finished now.

He should move back up and try and get a big fight with Lee if Lee comes through BJS and doesn't jump into a GGG match.

 

The one they call Triple G took Macklin's soul and he hasn't looked the same since.

 

Macklin always overrated since the Jamie Moore fight.

 

The second body shot was legit. I hate it when they have their shorts up the armpits.

 

Paul Smith card was the biggest robbery of the commentary cards ever. Wasn't it 100-91?

 

Macklins fights are nearly always entertaining, and he comes across as a decent fella, but he was never a World Beater.

The Shamrock effect, and losing to an out of sorts Sturm, seem to have increased his popularity.

Always gave it his all, but always came up short at World Level, and would have been bested by Barker and Murray.

 

Barker -- who struggled with Belgecham? That Barker???? Who got squashed by Sturm ???????

 

Something like that indeed. I turned of the commentary at one point. It was rather shameful. It was a good and close fight and I agree that the second 'low' blow, was not illegal. Macklin was selling it like a drama queen.
Welborn showed lots of heart and toughness. Macklin might have won the match, but will go nowhere, doesn't deserve another title shot.
