Which is better then Pacquiao vs Chris ppv buys lololol. 400k for Mayweather vs Berto which not one person pick berto for an upset and everything said from the start this fight was a joke? 400k buys is very impressive.

This is a great point, I really don't understand people and their fascination with PPV buys.

It's like they have a vested interest in the PPV doing well.

I just wanna see good fights and couldn't care less about that business side of thing.

Triple G is a unique talent, right up there with a prime Marvelous Marvin Hagler. He totally dominated a legitimate challenger with proven knockout power. Hagler knocked out powerpunching Caveman Lee back in the day and his stature as a champ grew. So will Triple G keep gaining fame and fans as he dominates and K.O's challenger after challenger. I bought the fight and enjoyed the entire event.

    :lol::rofl
You didn't say all of this prior to those numbers being released. All we heard was this is going to be Hagler-Hearns can't miss fight and will do more numbers than PBF-Berto. I love it now how all of a sudden you're backtracking like a ***** and are full of excuses. Me and other's tried telling you that this fight wasn't PPV worthy and was a cruel joke but you GGG fan boys wouldn't listen. I knew this fight was a joke of a PPV when I tried contacting multiple sports bars here in Houston and none of them were showing the fight.

Mayweather fans started this obsession to justify poor opponent choices and ducking. Not a Pac fan that's just the truth of the matter.

There was a time when PPV figures, from the perspective of fans, were nothing more than a tit-bit of television and entertainment trivia. Today, they form the basis for some sections of Boxing fans' opinions on the Boxers themselves. This line of thinking is flawed - a hangover perhaps from the Mayweather/Pacquiao bonanzas.

A 'Superstar Boxing Talent' does not necessarily commute to being a 'Marquee Superstar Name'. This means truly successful PPVs are limited to a handful of 'Names', who have been appropriately marketed for crossover appeal, while much Superstar Talent goes relatively unnoticed by the casual and non-sports fans. Hardcore Boxing fans will watch fights they want to, no matter the delivery method - broadcast or cable PPV.

Suffice to say, comparatively low PPV sales are no indication of talent; only how well the event and the actors performing in it have been marketed to a wider audience. There are other variables such as geographical/demographical factors and such like but, in the main, unless a continuous effort has been made to build up and promote a Boxer's unique identity and public image, they could be the second-coming of SRR and still fail to bring exceptional PPV buys, throughout their entire career.

PPV fights should be significant fights and not fights like Golovkin v Lemieux, Mayweather v Berto, Mosley v Mayorga 2, etc. The way for boxing to survive is to have good fights available to the general public that aren't ppv and exceptional fights as ppv. I hope that most of these ppvs flop because they aren't worth paying for.

im not a ggg hater...thats what an imbecile like yourself fails to realize...i like ggg and im a boxing fan

but its been awhile since ive seen a guy get a free pass for things other fighters get hated on for....like fighting a slate of rubbish...like ducking an elite, a level, fighter who wanted to fight him after he said hed fight anyone in that division

years ago when floyd was dominating..."ppv numbers dont mean anything ...blah blah...who cares about money....its about legacy and challenging yourself and making the best fights possible"

then it was "ggg is going to take over floyds spot and become the ppv king...hes the new king of the sport"

then his ppv tanks "umm welllll who cares about ppv numbers...ummm its floyds fault"

his fans are a joke.....ive never seen a group of people so desperate to be associated with a "winner"...or an aura of invincibilty...

But why are u so obsessed with complete strangers 'eating crow' ??

90% of posters on here are more obsessed with fans of fighters not on their love list than just discussing the sport objectively

Look at the constant bait threads that get started

The board gets clogged up with complete ****
