Yeah, I'm a little bummed out by this result as well. I wanted GGG to gain enough incentive for Cotto or Canelo to fight him.

Which result ? There is no result yet. Just a rumor from fighthype which is a totally unreliable biased source.

A boxing star. A PPV star is a whole other beast. You need "that fight" to become a crossover PPV star. Mayweather had Oscar De La Hoya as the guy who passed him that baton. Same with Pacquiao. Canelo had Mayweather. Cotto has Mayweather and Pacquiao. A Khazak who debuted only 3 years and getting 150K (that's about an extra 7.5 million) when he's not had a big or competitive fight isn't bad. It's really not.

Credit to K2 for bringing GGG to the cusp of mainstream without ever fighting an established, great opponent, but they won't get over that hump until they get Golovkin his "Oscar De La Hoya" fight. To me, that fight for him is in either Canelo or Mayweather.

150K in buys is pathetic for GGG whose fans see him as the second coming. Anything less than 275K is a huge flop.

Yeah but in relation to his usual numbers, mayweather vs berto flopped. I didn't think lemieux vs GGG would come close to outselling it. Now why weren't you happy that berto vs mayweather flopped? Or were you?

Well said. Gollovkin isn't at fault for the fact there aren't an extra million or so extra Kazakhs residing in America, and Lemieux has barely even broken onto HBO, let alone PPV.

Not sure HBO did the bst job in building it either. A 24-7 series wouldn't have gone amiss.

HBO did nothing to promote it. They can't do the same amount of promotion as if it was on FREE TV (which was a total of 30 minutes)and except the same results when it's on PPV.
