Why not put up some of these names Steele Hostak Jackson Ketchel Benn If you want comparisons with GGG?
When you watch their fights and see the impact of their punches on their opponents, do you think that Robinson's punches are harder? To me it doesn't seem particularly close.
I think if someone would stand there and let GGG and Robinson bang away at their arms and body I'd put every penny I had that GGG would be the harder hitter. Knocking somebody out is a different kettle of fish altogether, it's usually the shot you don't see that knocks you out. Robinson's speed, timing and reflexes contributed to this.
How about the impact of Robinson knocking a proven iron-chinned fighter like Gene Fullmer senseless with one punch? I'm yet to see Golovkin do the same to a comparable opponent.
What about the hundreds of other punches that failed to seriously hurt Fullmer in those fights? Golovkin would have scorched little Gene Fullmer more than once if he fought him four times. No way Fullmer lasts 50 rounds with him.
And my question is open to you too. Feel free to answer it (if you've actually watched Golovkin's fights).
Robinson out of the list. I think Monzon is overrated as a puncher and Hagler is hard for me to figure because he was naturally more deliberate. Golovkin has never fought anyone so his KO percentage means ****.
What about them? Fullmer had one of the best chins in middleweight history. Robinson knocking him silly with one punch was not only remarkable, but it trumps any KO Golovkin has had. Feel free to point out the proven iron chinned fighters that Golovkin has KO'd.
If you think that Fullmer (or anyone else) could have just eaten so many clean punches from Golovkin over so many rounds and just kept trudging forward, you are fooling yourself.
Here's something - just throwing this out there. What was Martin Murray's fight night weight against Golovkin? To me it looked like he may easily have been 175.
