Because Povetkin camp already tried to make the fight for the spring and fall of the 2015, Sasha even stated after the Perez fight that he'll wait for Wilder and not take a tune up fight. When they realized they couldn't get it for this fall, they scheduled the fight with Wach(made an offer to Helenius First). Now, the spring of 2016 is the best available date for both sides. It's moronic to claim he should be stripped. Not to mention we're getting much better fights for the WBC Silver title than the real world title itself.

January is the best date for Wilder. He's ready to box again in January.

Povetkin says he not ready for another 6 months. He deserves his mando status stripped away. No champ should ever wait around for the challenger .

Povetkin is the real champion and brings the cash, so he can decide where and when he wants to fight. He will be ready in Feb / March. Wilder will probably be stripped.

    Source?

I'm pretty sure that they have time to make the fight happen till May 2016 because Povetkin became the mandatory this year in May.

If they actually said "April or May" that's bull**** and Wilder should not have to wait. February or March would be reasonable.

That's the way it's going to play out. The report I cited is on the scene site.

The mandatory is dictated by the champion's timeline (i.e. Wilder was the mandatory when he won the title in January, so the clock for his mandatory started when he won it even though Povetkin didn't win the eliminator until May).

Wilder won't be stripped since WBC granted him another voluntary defense in January.

It's Povetkin's camp who said April or May :D

Povetkin is not a champion of anything.

The great news here is it opens up a window for unification.

If Wilder wins in January, he can line up the Fury-Klitschko winner for the summer and Povetkin will have to step aside and wait (per WBC rules, mandatories can be made to wait until after unification provided they are guaranteed the first shot at the winner).

If Fury wins, bet hard on this scenario. If it's Wlad, maybe not, maybe so.

He's more a champion than Wilder will ever be.

Dummy. His WBA run of opponents were worse than WILDER.

No they weren't. His last three fights as the WBC silver weight champion were also better than Wilders 'championship fights'.

Wilder would duck Wach as well.
