I was just going through one of my old Ring mags from 1958 and it said in 1957 there were 10 world championship fights in the entire year. That's heavyweight thru flyweight. 10 championship fights...total...for the entire year. Of course now with a zillion paper titles available there must be hundreds if not more. Pretty crazy
Bad, but not surprising nor necessarily Broner's fault. The WBA actually has guys like Danny Jacobs and Ruslan Chagaev listed as "World Champions". It's sad that I actually wouldn't mind going back to the days of 3 or 4 world champions. I'm just sick of the Super and Interim champ nonsense.
Broner is with Haymon. Meaning he's not gonna be allowed to fight Crawford or Postol. He'll be fed scrubs.
