With circumstances like that, Witter needed all the momentum he could get. He was right on the cusp of getting Hatton into a corner where the pressure to make that fight from the general public would've been too strong.

I still think Witter's approach to getting a Hatton fight, all stick and no carrot, was still the wrong way. A little diplomacy might've gone a long way.

 

if witter had dropped the petulent act and started giving hatton credit as a great champion and all that ****, hatton wouldn't have been able to say he's not fighting witter because witter slags him off now would he? its not rocket science, but was beyond poor witter evidently

 

Good point. It's not as if he's been fighting complete bums all the time.
However he's considered boring, unsellable, awkward and heavy handed. Couple that with the fact no top fighter has to fight him and I see it as very unlikely that he'll get any high profile fights.

Also, its not as if we can consider his career a failure can we? He was never gonna be the 2nd coming of SRL and he was able to fight consistantly against a fairly high level of opponent . Not every boxer can be a superstar.

How is it double standards? Losing to an unknown prospect is the same as beating a top ten rated guy?
