Been watching boxing for a couple of decades and I don't remember when the jww and ww divs were this loaded. Today's 140-147 is a murderers row of some of the best fighters in the past 20 years. I mean, just look at jww....you got guys like bradley, broner, crawford, felix diaz, lamont peterson, khan, garcia, provodknikov, pac, and even the lesser lights such as postol, algieri, herrera, vargas, chaves and matthysse. the ww is even more amazing...thurman, spence, porter, bradley (again), berto, brook, maidana, guerrero, alexander and we could go on and on...it's just incredible. the potential matchups are out of this world. I just hope the matchmakers take advantage. JMW is shaping up to be great too...andrade, trout, lara, the charlo bros, etc... My personal theory is, this is what the hw division would have looked like if boxing was still popular in the states...but because guys around 5 foot 8 and 145 lbs can't play in the nba or nfl, they turn to boxing.
WW looks decent but JWW IMO is not that great, at SWW I don't really rate either Trout or Charlos much, Andrade and Lara are excellent though.
Ssm, odlh, fmj, cotto, margo, pwilly, clottey, pac, hatton, collazo, ortrees, maidana, khan, berto, Where all campaignin between 140-147 at one point Welter been hot for a minute
It's definitely a talent rich era right now.....we had some good ones over the last 25 years with guys like DLH, Mosley, Mayweather, Pac ect....but I see a lot of potential in this class.
The HW division is done. Although i have to give credit to the Klitschkos for trying to keep it as relevant as possible, but it's not enough. It's all about the lower divisions.
HW is dead for the most part right now, but with the rise of Joshua, Parker, Usyk (if he goes to HW) can make things very exciting.
