Well obviously i can't see into AJ's mind, alls we can do is speculate, but, his change in demeanor could be that he knows he is in a proper fight for the first time in his career. It does not necessarily mean he is any less confident, he just knows that, unlike in his past pro fights, he might actually be paid to pay the price for any mistakes. Fighters and other sports people often appear different in the build up to different opponents/events. Some get in that zone earlier. Roy Jones Jr was more subdued and surlier in his build up to the Ruiz fight as he knew that Ruiz, whilst not a great fighter, he did have the obvious size advantage and Roy was on the verge of doint something no one had done in a very long time. Obviously, this change of demeanour was not down to Roy being any less confident as he proved on fight night.
I see that point. However what doesn't sit well is AJ's sports psychology mantra of he's just another man with two arms, two legs etc. he is trying to say that the Whyte fight is no different but his actions tell us all differently. I am glad he is taking it seriously and looking forward to a good fight.
This fight is being too hyped up by people here probably. Sure, it MIGHT turn out to be a good fight between two prospects, or it might turn out to be something else. The thing to remember is that neither of these guys has ever beaten a real contender. If Joshua beats Whyte it really doesn't mean much. If Whyte beats Joshua he deserves credit for the upset, but it doesn't mean much. I suspect that whoever wins will be vastly overrated off of the win.
Hope whyte wins, but I can see only see another early AJ stoppage, can see it panning out like Callum smith vs fielding to be honest.
That's a good point. I think both have showed talent and i favour AJ's resume over Whyte's, but, like the Smith v Fielding fight, this fight won't really tell us much about each fighter going forward. Unless of course a glaring weakness is exposed; bad chin, stanima, heart, etc.
