Yesterday in Tallinn, Estonia Helenius vs Musafarov. It was exhibition fight, not official. They fought with 14 oz gloves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrHFSVRr6Ew
Musafarov is a tough guy. Never been stopped. He gave Boytsov and Teper a lot of problems. In that perspective Helenius did ok. Helenius was in control most of the match.
It was maketed as a real fight. But i liked it. Theres a new guy in town and hes put on 3 decent boxing shows this year. I hope he keeps it up because boxing is virtually dead in Estonia,
The commentator actually said it was 16oz gloves, not 14oz. Don't know and don't really care which one's right, but it looked like a real fight from time to time. Musafarov really wanted to bring the fight to Robert, while Robert looked like he was taking it quite lightly, keeping his posture and being careful. Good preparation for the upcoming Helenius-Teper fight!
Robert looked very clumsy and slow. And what the hell is that what he is doing when "throwing" right hand. huh. Jab looked good. Musafarov is a very decent cruiser weight. Gave tough fight for Europian champion Teper, who Helenius is going to face next. It was obvious that his punches did nothing to Helenius, but he was able to land flush with his hooks way too much. If Teper lands those shots with similar frequency, it will be good night Hellenius.
Maybe this was just an exhibition and therefore they didn't put full force behind their powers punches. I also guess Helenius is the one who would loose the most on this and the sparring gloves. I wouldn't draw any conclusions from this fight.
