That's overly harsh and unfair. It's combat sports. Prime or not, one punch (err, kick) can change it all.

    Maybe, maybe not.

It's very easy to pick holes and kick any fighter or any sportsperson when they are down, it is how they return after a major setback that tells you the most about them as sportspeople and individuals.

    1. You misquoted a bit...
    2. I like what Laila said on Rousey not touching gloves: "It's a fighters choice whether they want to touch gloves or not..." and "people who aren't fighters can sit on the sideline and say whatever it is they want to say but when you're getting in the ring you do what you need to do to feel comfortable as a fighter, none of that matters. If she would've won nobody would've said anything." Applies to anything in sports.

    Good interview and insight! :good

ronda got punched in the face, her lip split open and couldn't cope, she thought she could hang with holly standing up, she should have stuck to her bread and butter and concentrated on getting her arm bar. with 3 of her last 4 wins coming by ko, i think ronda wanted to prove she wasn't a one trick pony (arm bar) but in this fight she was outmatched and humbled.

i can't stand loud mouth braggarts like mcgregor, mayweather, broner etc etc rousey made her image as this non sportsmanlike killer tough guy and i'm so glad she got humbled, couldn't stand her ring persona, boxing is not wwe.

well boxing is not wwe but image does sell, i just do not like that bad guy, non touching gloves, disrespecting opponents attitude that ronda was portraying. in my opinion it also made her ugly as F.

I agree, except for her persona, that's cool with me. But yes, it looked like she tried to fight Holly's fight to prove a point.

  9. Im not the one to judge an athlete if they have a loud mouth and have a tendency to brag and/or talk ****, especially a fighter. You gotta understand their entire lives they've been told they are the best. It also helps bring casuals into the sport who normally wouldn't watch an event (like my coworker who DKSAB because she never watched a single fight and bought the MosleyMayorga fight because of the ass grab)

On that same note however, it is great to see a big trash talker get humbled. I enjoyed Richard Sherman's eyes swell after that interception in the superbowl as much as I enjoyed watching that kick to the head.

The lady with boxing experience made Rousey fight her fight. After that first punch in the face I'm sure any thoughts Rousey had of boxing with her left her head. This stuff about Rousey trying to fight the other lady's fight is just an excuse. The same thing would probably happen if they fought again.

and just think, UFC and the media were trying to compare Rhonda's dominance to tysons. Comparing a highly competitive sport from the 1800s in the HW division, these guys boxing for 10-20 years of their life all going after the same title, to a brand new sport for females in the BW division, where Rhonda was arm barring wet behind the ear girls and tyson putting people out on stretchers basically. Rhonda went to a measley 12-0 compared to Tysons 37-0 and these idiots wanted to put Rhonda in the same mention as Tyson? Well, hopefully this will shut them up now.

We live in the era of hype. Social media allows everything to be blown up out of proportion.

This wasn't the case of someone getting caught, this happens and figthers can easily bounce back from that.. Take Badou Jack.. Got caught against Edwards but he managed to come back stronger, that's because the skill was still there but he just had a mishap.

For Ronda, it wasn't a mishap it was a total annihilation in every way, her lack of skills were exposed that night.

Ironic considering Laila never gave Ann Wolfe the chance.
