In Liverpool? Locally, what's the general opinion of them?

    Well liked? Not liked etc?

I ask, as the two big local fights I've seen either brother in (Paul/Quigley, Callum/Rocky), the crowd seem to be highly in favour of the non-Smith fighter.

I've met them at weigh ins before and they all seemed decent t genuine blokes who were happy moving with fans. Can't really comment away from boxing though.

Honestly, up until a couple of years ago most of the city wouldn't have a clue who they were. I'm not having a dig either because I have always supported them. For example I remember being outside the Olympia before Price v Dallas when Paul and Stephen walked through the busy crowd and no one even noticed them. Public only really got onto the band wagon since the Callum hype train started. Before then with Liam being on Box nation so not getting publicity, Stephen being in an unfashionable weight and Paul losing when stepping up they were not that well known.
I think the fights you mention is an area thing there were lots of Kirkby heads in for the Quigley fight obviously supporting Quigley and lots from Cantril Farm supporting Rocky. Where I was sitting last Saturday it was probably pro Callum despite hearing from others it was different where they sat.
Also, people can't resist supporting the underdog can they which probably gave that impression.

Amongst the city's boxing fans I think they're quite well liked on the whole.

If people don't like them then it's little wonder with ****ty local journalism like that. Paul hit the nail on the head
he got wrongly arrested and made front page news and then wins a world title and gets a tiny little thing on the back! Disgraceful.
As mentioned above about mixing with fans, that is my experience as well. They drink/used to drink in an arl fella's pub in the middle of nowhere on the industrial dock road so obviously aren't pretentious people who will only go the s****y gaffs. I remember once I left there and within minutes me mate texted me with a picture of Stephen's Lonsdale belt on his shoulder. Gutted haha.

    Boring, the lot of them.

They all only have two facial expressions, one is constipated and the other is a grin like they have just got over constipation and are very happy to sit in it.

Think they seem very nice guys, seem faitly level headed and quite ambitious when it comes to their boxing. Most of the recent hate comes from Pauls ambition of fighting for and winning a world title, which whilst I don't believe he deserved a shot I don't think anyone should judge him for taking it. They are all fairly quiet and yes that can be seen as boring which is why I am always baffled when people rant about them as I don't see anything there to hate.

I wouldn't say people hate them and I haven't seen rants, they are just boring. They are not interesting people.

Hating Paul for getting a world title shot is ridiculous but judging him coming in overweight at a 172 catchweight is fair. It was disgraceful and after the abuse he gave Rocky Fielding he looked an idiot, correction, boring idiot.

It got very little publicity as Liam doesn't have as big a profile as his brothers and Klopp is a far bigger story in Liverpool than the smiths, not to mention controversy sells better, 'boxers in street fight' is a good headline

As for them, have been around Callum and Stephen and they seem alright, Paul just comes across as a knob, Liam seems alright

Yes, it's a good headline for red top rags who want to sell newspapers. But for a local paper they should show the good as well as the bad. It's job is to give the news and a first world champion in 23 years is far bigger than the Everton captain with about 40 caps already captaining England in a pointless friendly. Klopp had already been the manager for nearly a week. So his first day is bigger news, don't think so and I'm a red.
As for your point about him not having a big profile This is exactly the reason they should go big with the story so people know about it. It's their job.

His profile is more the responsibility of his manager and promoter than the local press, besides more people are interested in the two football teams than any boxer from the city

They're not as well liked as 4 boxers from the same city should be. The reception for Rocky and the reception for Callum can be put down to the underdog factor but if Rocky would have been in Callum's shoes that night the booing would still have been for Callum.

Callum is wooden as hell and seems alright but the others, especially Paul, seem like right divvies. There's a way of doing things. Paul's up his own backside more than anybody I've known, Liam suddenly thinks he's P4P number 1 because he was basically given a world title. There's just something about them that many don't like and it should not be that way.

    Well liked in Liverpool.

Only one's who don't like them are jealous people but you get them in every city.

Paul does rub some people up the wrong way but it's usually on purpose.

    Talented lads.

Very Talented family, credit where credit's due. it's unbelievable and a bit of a one off to have a family like this all competing at a high level in the sport adn there's a very good chance 3 out of the 4 will be world champions.

Stephen and Callum are nice lads. But Paul can be a arrogant pricck, and Liam is a coccky hoodrat
