Castillo won the first fight via compubox. ...what is yhe point of compubox if Castillo git ripped off
You have to ask what Compubox actually is, how it works and who operates it. "The system calls for two operators. Each operator watches one of the two fighters and has access to four keys, corresponding to jab connect, jab miss, power punch connect, and power punch miss. The operators key in the different punches as they happen, collecting punch counts and hit percentages along the way." So it is just the opinion of two people, it should be used as a tool, a guide and nothing more. It is not 100% accurate because it is based on opinion.
Sometimes I can watch a replay from 2 angles and it looks like nothing had landed but the third angle you see something has. These stats are put together so quickly for TV that they haven't got time to go through every shot from different angles to see what have actually landed and what has not. It's just a rough guide.
Calzaghe almost doubled Hopkins in punches landed, but many thought Hopkins won the fight as N17 said, it's an opinion and nothing more
Compubox is not even close to some kind of say all be all, nor does it not mean anything. Actually, I think it means a lot, it is unbiased opinion that points to something that could be true. Though, it can never be completely accurate because it is still subject to human error and it absolutely cannot determine the amount of force a punch landed with. If you feel that Castilllo won (I don't) then it backs opinion your to that notion. It's true worth I feel lies somewhere along the middle road but definitely far better than the average biased opinion you will find on a message board.
Castillo started way too late in that first fight. Lost the first 5 rounds on most score cards. Even if he won 1 of the first 5 Floyd only needed 2 or three more rounds for a win or draw. Second fight was a clear win as well.
this is the standard phlomoe response to the mayweather castillo question. it is repeated as truth by fanboys who have never even seen the fight. the man asks about compubox, and the ****** may defense team scrambles into action.
Why do people care so much about Castillo I? I mean Floyd gave him an immediate rematch and beat him again, just to silence any doubt about the first fight. He proved he was the superior fighter, and he continued to get better as his career progressed.
Castillo won that fight for sure. It was a close but clear win. Mayweather was outhustled. he was using his torn rotator cuff arm a HELL OF A LOT in that fight. Compubox stats had Castillo the better of the two.
Just to clear up I watched mayweather cast illo on youtube on soneones video thread....at the end tbey brought up the stats on comppubox...basically sayi g castillo landed around 100-130 more jabs and power shots than mayweather. ....I didnt no what comppubox was hence the reason I asked
Not only is compubox subject to beingvery inaccurate sometimes, but boxing is scored round by round, not by overall punches landed. You can give away too many early rounds, and then begin to substantially out land your man and still lose the fight if you don't score any knockdowns.
