He was a monster in the light heavy division back in the 70's, one of the greats and freaky power and very good ability
His fight with Tiger was one of the first I can remember seeing live on tv back in '68. Unforgettable ko, and unforgettable fighter. Rest easy Champ
Shocking news. Prompted me to request a new password as I had not posted for years and had forgotten my earlier password. One of the greatest ever. Had a sort of invincible aura about him at his peak at LHVW. RIP Champ.
He was very impressive when coming over the pond to fight Finnegan, and as mentioned the KO of Tiger is one of them stunning images that would be on any highlight reel if you had sum up the sport.
Sad news. He was a good boxer, as well as big puncher at LHW. He had tremendous height and reach advantages over most of his opponents, and he used these asset well. He bided his time, then lowered the boom.
I watched the Finnegan fight recently, and even Foster's jab was like a power shot; Foster was brilliant and intimidating.
If he had HGH he would have been heavyweight champ. I talked to Foster about 10 years ago at a benefit dinner, he was about 230 lbs. he said, laughing, "I couldn't put on weight back then, I have no problem putting it on now."
R.I.P. to one of the scariest champs ever...I really felt sorry for his opponents...especially Vincente Rondon. Foster was a badass....The Killer Preying Mantis From Mars, as I used to refer to him.
