In the case of the Marquez-Pacquiao rematch, they already had fought once and after Pacquiao knocked out Morales twice, the Marquez rematch was ready to be made.
With Golovkin, he really hasn't fought anybody of note that the casual fan would recongnize.
To me, Golovkin needs a name on his resume that the casual fan would recognize so that an eventual Canelo Alvarez matchup would be a big sell. Can you say maybe Miguel Cotto????

Where does Miguel Cotto go from here?
Cotto is on the way out and doesn't have the upside Canelo does so him fighting Golokin would probably make financial sense for him, and Cotto can still call the shots and be the Diva he likes to be against GGG.

If Golovkin beats Cotto, then he has that name on his resume that the casuals would recognize making a Canelo Alvarez fight a huge event.

As it stands right now though, Canelo vs GGG doesn't make financial sense, there's to much risk involved for both Canelo and GBP not to wait it out another year so that fight can be more of a success on the PPV market.

Spot on, Canelo doesn't need GGG at all. Canelo holds all the cards and wouldn't be phased in the slightest if GGG didn't want the fight at 155. GGG is the one who needs this fight.

Oscar doesn't care about making a mockery of the middleweight division. He was a fake and fraudulent middleweight champ. Robs Sturm of the title and then takes a dive after Hopkins touches his liver. Fugk Golden Boy

Oh believe me GGG is already big. He's well known and more and more people are wising up to the fact that he's being ducked left right and centre. His name was brought up to Cotto and his name was brought up to Canelo imediately post their most recent victories. He's the man people want to see fight for the belt, the rightful heir apparent

How is GGG gonna get more popular on the PPV market if no one with a big name is willing to step up? Cotto already offered $800,000 step asde money. You think hes suddenly gonna step up now that he doesnt need to? He'll be hugely relieved that in losing the belt he no longer has to worry about being destroyed by Golovkin

Isnt the deal Canelo HAS to fight GGG now at 160 or he drops the belt? GGG will be more than willing to take a joke cut of the purse, but he's gonna hold firm at 160. And good for him. You want to be called the middleweight champion then you fight at damn 160, no ifs buts or excuses

This is the important question imo. As a mandatory challenger I assume GGG has the right to weigh in at 160.

If Canelo wants to drop the belt then fine.

If GGG wants to agree to a catch-weight, that's also fine.

    This is sad to see.

Somebody with the reputation of Canelo as a fight anyone anywhere fighter, afraid to take on his mandatory at the stipulated weight, when he weighs MORE than GGG on fight night.

I'm just hoping that he realises that if he drops the belt he's got nowhere to go to, and that he makes the fight.

Canelo was drained when Mayweather imposed the catchweight on him
So he knows that to fight GGG, he has to drain him like Mayweather did to him

He does though and the fact he won't fight at 160 against a guy who's ring weight has been 168 before is a very poor reflection on the sport

How Did Pac run from Marquez Dumbass? It was Marquez that declined an immediate rematch after the first fight to go to indonesia and fight and get his ass beat by Chris John for a purse that probably wasnt even enough to cover the travel costs.

He also ran from a fifth fight with Pac and ducked Ruslan Provodnikov to fight meth head Provo victim Mike Alvarado. And when did Pac ever drained Marquez re****? And speaking of roids theres never been a more clear case of roiding than JMM in the fourth fight with Pacquiao where at close to 40 years old he came in looking like the incredible Hulk with a roided up belly and his back full of acne(signs of roiding) and punching harder than ever, you dont get that way all of a sudden by being clean and drinking your own **** you get that by following know cheating enabler Memo Heredia's methods of roiding and geting away with it.

Get your facts straight before vomiting garbage all over this forum.
