Good showing, proud Canadian. He is one of us.

Wanted DeGale to win but Bute deserves all the respect in the world. A real class act.

Bute is 35... Degale is what, 27? 27-28-29 are the best years for a most boxer, it is when they can combined good speed, strength, will and experience. After that, your speed and will (you get more cautious) tends to leave you, eventhough your strength stays the same and your experience is broader.

I saw this easily 9-3. Bute had his moments but not close to winning rounds against the better Degale.

Bute just couldn't pull the trigger, looked like too much sparring and not enough fighting had dulled the edge. Its a bit hard to see, but its there if you know what to look for.

Little moments where DeGale is out of position or off balance, and Bute patiently waits like he is a jouster readying for another tilt instead of throwing mean leather.

DeGale on the other hand was grabbing al those small opportunities , and when he wasn't running like the wind was landing decent shots.

I had it 7-5 Bute did a great job tonight, he turned back the clock and put on a better showing in losing tonight than he did with either Pascal or Froch, give the man some credit.

Well then he should not have taken this fight against a prime champion.

I just never liked him as a fighter. Always overrated IMO.

The fight was really close. The brits commentators were worried. The fight was close, Bute was just a little bit off of the 168 guy. Just give Bute credit, he is still top 3-4 in the division at 35.

Oh well we can agree to disagree on that one. I like Degale but I don't think he's world class or will ever be.

I've noticed with Brit commentators their exteamly confident when the brit is fighting at home and are homerish. When the brit is fighting away they get nit picky and give the benifit to the home fighter.

    I had Bute 8-4, or 7-5.

Well I don't think anyone beats him a SMW right now. Maybe a Chudinov can give him a fight, though I don't know much about him if I'm being honest. He's too skilled for Ramirez. I think he beats Jack, and Abraham. He beats Anthony Dirrel and his country men Groves with ease. Maybe Callum gives him a fight in the future, but he's still up and coming as a fighter. I will say though he's not dominant like a Ward and won't KO people like Froch did during their reign.

Good point. He is World Champion and one of, maybe even, the best in the world in his weight class. That has to be considered world class imo.

Would love to see Bute go after Abraham.

He's not even close to Froch, Ward or Kessler's level, but yeah he'd probably beat Jack, AA, MM, and maybe even Chudinov, but I'd give Callum Smith and Ramirez a good shot at beating him.
