They should just make cruiser weight extend to 220 and call anyone beyond that a heavyweight

Back from the dead and speaking...

    And I agree with him.

But it's a midsized heavyweight. Mike Tyson, Ali. The cruiser name dosnt work anymore. Those guys are heavyweights. It's time to go in line with the amateurs. Bypass the cruiser word.

Muhammad Ali is not a heavyweight anymore because the new guys got big?

Same number of champs, same name across the board "heavyweight" 180-220. Superheavyweight "open".

Does anyone think Wlad can win a rematch? I don't think he has much of a shot, was very slow on the trigger and that's hard to fix.

I think he's shot to pieces and would most likely lose unless he lands a big shot. Trouble is he doesn't like getting hit himself and looked gun shy.

Truly hopes he packs it in. He had a great run but I think we have all tired of his recipe for success... No one needs a pale reenactment of this until the inevitable destruction awaiting him.

He's probably physically capable but I'm not sure that he has the right disposition. Too scared to take risks (and with good reason-- he might get knocked out).

I think pre manny Wlad would beat Fury - he might be too old to adopt those tactics now and could get KOd by Fury if he does

That would have been risky for a man with his shaky chin against a guy as big and dangerous as fury..

Where, specifically are you getting this nonsense from? Why doesn't the cruiser limit work "anymore"? What is this based upon? What empirical data supports this position that you hold so firmly? And at what point did it stop working?

Because i think, frankly, it's just something that you've made up.

    Muhammad Ali is retired.

    Disaster.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. "Heavyweight" is the most famous branding in the sports world still. Confusing it is literally one of the stupidest things boxing can do. Marketing would be horrified. Horrified.

This, probably, is about Rocky Marciano somehow

But it's not confusing anyone in the Amateurs. Who on earth was confused in the Amatuers? If anything an amatuer heavyweight turning pro as a "cruiser" is more confusing already!!

We already have Superheavyweight. It's not a new division. They are here to stay. so let's make it official. Give heavyweights back their own division.

Ask Jack Dempsey or Jess Willard.

No way would Joe Louis be happy about taking on a giant with such big gloves. No way!

Bigger gloves make the target smaller. Cleaner punching (that a size disadvantaged boxer relies upon) is made even more difficult.

Have you seen how easily MMA guys go over from a clean punch? They have half the technique of a boxer and twice the impact because smaller gloves are more effective.

Put today's contest boxing gloves on MMA fighters and they will have to rely a whole lot more on submissions and kicks because their punching will be reduced ten fold.
