Does Fury's win over Klitschko in what is kindly called a stinker of a heavyweight title fight secure the fighter of the year honor for him?

You're joking right? Canelo's win was better and earned. Yea, the 10 year reigning HW champ got knocked off, but everyone knows he got knocked off by a fart in the wind more than his actual opponent.

Can you name a more significant fight? Cotto and Alvarez fought for the middleweight title at a weight of 155 and Cotto wasn't widely respected as the champ. Mayweather beat Pac but the fight was almost as bad as this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fury get the award.

It was GGG prior to Fury/Wlad, now it's Fury indefinitely?

I don't know if it's Fury indefinitely but I think he has a good shot at winning it this year. Fury has made the heavyweight division relevant again. I never thought I would be starting a thread concerning the heavyweight division yet here I am.

If Floyd had fought Thurman or Bradley in September, it'd be hard to argue against him being FOTY.

Maybe he deserves a mention but i doubt Fury will get any vote over GGG.

Murray, Monroe and Lemieux. All Prime fighters. If Fury looked sensational against Wlad rather than just doing enough to beat a 39 year old Wlad then i'd say Fury should get the nod. It was impressive in the fact that nobody really thought he would win, but that was far from an impressive performance from Fury.

Don't you think a win over Klitschko for the lineal heavyweight title, no matter how spotty, is greater than wins over Murray, Monroe and Lemieux?

Floyd vs Pac fight didn't live up most of the casual fan expectations, but it was still way better than the Fury vs Klit.

But don't get me wrong, taking the 4 belt from Wlad and ending his winning streak is a big achievement, but Fury doesn't come close to fighter of the year performance. Come on mate, "Chunky's" performance against Bute is a real shoe-in for fighter of the year. Man, the bout is even a shoe-in for Fight of the year. :good

    Canelo ..lol:nut

That result was a foregone conclusion. And the fight itself was a pillow gloved sparring session.

Fury's win shocked the world and will go down as one of the biggest upsets of all time.

It was the best win of the year beyond a shadow of a doubt.
