Hopkins MD12 Wright

 

The closer the fight day is coming up and the more I am watching Winky/Bhop fights, the more certain I am that Hopkins will dominate this match. The workrate of Winky and age will not be a factor. Winky is one-dimensional and can beat elite fighters like Mosley and Trinidad because their come straight forward styles are perfect for him. Hopkins' style is all wrong for him and he's also fighting him at 170, where he will be much smaller and less strong. My prediction is that Winky will throw more punches, but Hopkins will land almost two times as many as he counters Winky on the outside all night, giving him angles and being very physical on the inside.

Hopkins 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 and I wouldn't be shocked if Winky quits or gets stopped. It's unbelievable that Winky is the odds favorite in this, especially at 170.

 

I am going with Hopkins by KO even though I know ishould be gooing with him wining a UD due to his past fights.

If you are a Winky fan you can point to Winkys work rate in his last few fights and his jab and defense.I am expecting it to suprise people and be a great fight with Wink pressing the action.This could be a mistake for hime because of the sugcess Hopkins has had against south paws and his right hand counter.

 

Bernard Hopkins will win every round and will make it look easy. The keys will be movement and timing.

 

Good point... but the reason why people are so divided is that there is a lot of ignorant people who either think it will be close or think Wright will win.

I have been picking Bernard for this fight, for a while now. I have been saying that he has the style to beat Wright. I have been saying Hopkins know how to fight southpaws. I've been saying Hopkins has a size advantage. I have been saying that Winky needs to hope that Hopkins is too old, and that he can outwork him.

I think that I have changed my mind. I still feel that Hopkins has the style to beat Winky, but will not be able to show it. I think that Winky is too young for Hopkins now. I fear that Winky may be hard for him to hit, and have a better work rate in this fight.

Winky wins this one in my prediction. I won't be surprised if I was right in the beginning, but I am probably going to bet otherwise.

So the last fight we can see how they compare is the Taylor fights and Winky did (marginally) better than Hopkins.

Hopkins is taller, but Winky has good reach and is probably more active than Hops.

I will go with a narrowish Winky points win.
