Do remember David never had the amateur or pro experience of Tobias and in my eyes brought much more to the ring than original opponent Adamu David recovered brilliantly from a punch high on the temple which had him in bother, eh it's boxing it happens, however he got on with it and in round 8 he was diffrent class Also Tobias was excellent last night and is a gent, No bull**** just spoke the truth, very refreshing
More interviews from the show Amir Khan was in Edinburgh and gave us a quick interview [YT]KGgqCcgijdw[/YT] Ryan Rhodes was working the corner for Brian Forsyth's opponent [YT]70tfj5HDvP0[/YT] Stephen Simmons won by stoppage [YT]GnaF9FWhx0I[/YT] Gary Jacobs gave us an extended interview on the journey back, covering pretty much everything [YT]xvpSSwQbC7c[/YT] Anyway don't want to take over the thread with videos. Glad to see Brophy won, he has been taught good boxing fundamentals, and is very fit. Not dissimilar to Ricky Burns at that stage of his career, and if he can do half of what his mate achieved I am sure he would bite the hand of you. The promotional situation with regards to Brophy not getting many fights, until he has went to MGM has held up his development. Webb fight was a good fight to have would like to see him having another couple of fights in and around the Webb-Buglioni level in next 6 months, and if he wins them as I think he would then I would be looking for someone like Fielding.
As per Billy on here, that fight doubled as an eliminator for Luke Blackledge's CW title. So if that's made next year (Luke is out in Feb on the Flanagan/Mathews card) then that would be a good tough fight. As already mentioned Brophy is fit - Luke is one of the fittest out there - that much has been shown in his recent outings. Id pick Luke for a points win in a close hard fought battle.. What's interesting about this is that if it's made - neither has fought as an amateur at all so that in itself is a remarkable fact.
Noticed a few folk slagging Brophy's power or lack of KO success on this thread and others. People go on boxrec and think they're instant experts on any boxer they've researched for 10 seconds. If you haven't seen folk fight then you really aren't in a position to pass judgement or sneer. I've sparred with Brophy a few years ago and he isn't feather fisted like some would make out. Hits a lot harder and sharper than plenty of other pros with better KO records on boxrec. How did big Ross Henderson look?
Exactly mate, even Webb himself said after the fight how underrated Brophy is and was surprised at the power. Both fighters conducted themselves with real class inside and outside of the ring.
david did look good last night but lets not get carried away by the stoppage, his opponent had lost 6 times before he fought david and was stopped in every single defeat good to see him back and he didn't look like he was suffering any effects after the groves fight so lets hope he can step up his opposition and look to get a shot at the british title
