lynch was beautiful to watch.dancing on the ***** of his feet in and out onto his left hook
h2h lynch wins but wilde barely made 7 stone.

 

berg became a stunt man after he retired and is in some
big british films but hard to spot.
he was known as the English Henry Armstrong because of his slow heart beat and ability to go 15 rounds flat out.
even though he was only 10 stone he was able to expand his chest by a remarkable 6 inches.
its true about mae west, she had more world champions than don king

there's easy 10 worthy chaps among them, but in all honesty you could list 25 or 50 of Britain's greatest ever and at the Very Top there usually isn't a great deal between them.

the Greb's, the Louis', the Peps and SRR's are icing on the cake but they are all beatable too...

TOP is Top is top, the differences are minimal until you begin to get down into fringe contenders, journeymen and club fighters.

list are good reference points and comparative starting points, but the truth is the old "Enhances his Reputation"... where a fighter beat another notable fighter and was advanced forward to get a crack at the Champion, at the end of the day is the only real measure.

 

Obviously its difficult to claim someone you have never seen fight live as the best but Jimmy Wilde has to be considered the UK's best ever. He was 100/0 at one point and is considered by most to be the best flyweight of all time.

The same can be said for Ted "Kid" Lewis and Bob Fitzsimmons. Never seen enough of their fights but on paper, they sounded very good.

From modern times? Probably Lennox or Calzaghe.

 

Yeah, he worked for Coral managing their Soho shop in the 80s - which back then sounds like an interesting place to be! When they had it refurbed they got Marvellous Marvin and some page 3 girl to come and officially reopen it as he was in London for the Minter fight. Again by all accounts he was a really nice bloke.

I think Jack did alright although I know he ended up selling his belts in his last few years which is fairly sad to hear. He got £10,000 for the world title belt which in the 80s was a considerable sum.
