It shouldn't since the fight was signed long ago. Now when IBF ordered Gassiev-Chakhkiev earlier and he went on to schedule his fight with some Brazilian they got really ****ed off and dropped him from the eliminator.
Shocked by that, if I'm honest. Wlad was their champ for so long that you'd have to think they'd show him some sort of loyalty in giving him a chance to win it back. It's circumstances like this which make the mandatory rules look stupid. How can a challenger have more right to a shot at the belt than a recently defeated champ who defended it for around 20 fights over nearly 10 years?
They basically stripped him for winning it. Glazkov is the biggest thief in the sport. Robbing decisions and now robbing peoples hard earned World Titles. I can't wait for the day this clown gets savagely knocked out.
Don't get the reasoning of the IBF at all here. Maybe they're power hungry and want to have a stand alone, and distinguished HW champ again? Like the WBC have with Wilder?
I wouldn't doubt that the Wilder vs Potvekin matched gets postponed by team Potvekin so that a bout can be negotiated with Glazkov. It would be the path of least resistance for Potvekin to get his hands on a belt and Glazkov would be paid handsomely to defend his belt in Russia in an all Russian affair.
That is poor, WBC should strip Wilder of his title for dodging and give it to Fury to make up for it and make the universe right again.
I have sympathy for the IBF on this issue. Wlad and Tyson had no right to arrange a rematch without their consent. It is against IBF rules, which both fighters knew. The IBF also face being sued by mandatory challengers if those challengers are denied their shot at the belt or if the shot is delayed. I do not agree that Wlad "deserves" another shot at the title. He lost the fight, despite cheating, and he must get back in line.
