Some respect due for Dillian Whyte

Dillian whyte is underrated. He's got power and a chin.

I was impressed with the way he managed to just stay out of range and time joshua despite the reach disadvantage.

I felt that although he looked quite ragged, his defence was deceptively effective, coupled with his relaxed way of leaning just out of range.

If he gets himself into slightly better shape he may be able to do something at heavyweight.

 

Dillian did nothing to disgrace himself tonight.

Getting stopped late by the the " ALLEDGED NEXT BIG THING AT HW " is no disgrace.

people seem excited about a whyte vs chisora fight on the main board. I'd like too see how Joseph parker does vs whyte too.

I can see whyte having a career similar to chisora, and will probably lose at the top level but be a top 10-15 operator.

Yeah respect to dillian, he showed a great chin and great heart, and despite his antics after the 1st round he showed good composure too after getting caught a few times.

 

Good post and completely true. Just went of Whyte's Twitter and AH fans tweeting about him posting when he 'wakes up'. Personally think he done really well from a limited base and he had AJ all over the show in the 2nd. Imo his conditioning cost him really badly. AJ was always going to fade because of his build, I just can't see anything other than that in the long run. But was I was surprised about was hitable he was and how easily Whyte evaded many of his punches. AJ just seems slow. Whyte could have had his way in the second half of the fight but wasn't in shape to do it. It's a learning curve for sure but he probably will never have a bigger fight.

 

I agree, he's only been back 12 or so months after being out due to a 2year ban and he only started training with Banks quite recently.
I think he is one to watch and I hope he comes back stronger.

Agree. Before the fight, I thought if AJ won, he should next match Chisora. Now I think I might have under-rated Whyte, and that there is little point in AJ fighting Chisora as he has already beaten a bigger, harder hitting version (not that I think AJ is that great, just Chisora so poor these days).

I now think AJ might be more interestingly matched against someone like Ustinov or Teper - a big (Eastern) European with a respectable World ranking. I would like to see Whyte rebuilt rather than cast on the s****-heap - fight a few stiffs on German undercards before being targeted at Euro-level titles.

 

Last nights fight was a genuinely decent heavyweight s**** by 2 prospects which is a rarity in the heavyweight division nowadays. Credit is deserved by both fighters for giving their all and some of the criticism ive seen on this forum is just non-sensical. I can see a good future for both of them with the right coaching and dedication and for once with a Matchroom PPV, I feel like I got my monies worth.
