He's had his 15th professional fight, he's admitted he took silly punches and he's got alot of learning to do.

Alot of people on here comparing him with haye, fury, wilder, klitshko, povetkin and saying he'll get KTFO.

What the hell do you expect? These guys have a hell of a lot more experience

    Exactly.

Fury had a war with light punching Cruiser Steve Cunningham not too long ago and look what he's achieved since. There were idiots writing Fury off after that just like the morons now writing Joshua off.

AJ will learn from this massively.

Spot on. People get far too excited instead of looking at it properly.

The problem is it was Whyte. Whyte is so limited and domestic level and AJ struggled. It's bad.

Fury got floored and struggled with a light punching Cruiser weight Steve Cunningham.

He's now the linear HW champ.

Like Fury AJ will learn from this and improve.

Comparing Cunningham with Whyte is ridiculous.

One is a former world champion and proven world level fighter. The other is a British level bum.

AJ was exposed. He should have dispatched Whyte easily.

Ok so what about McDermott? Who at that stage wasn't even British level? Was Fury exposed?

Interesting, only a few weeks ago most people on this forum were making out Joshua would kill Fury right now.
Since then, both Joshua and Fury have stepped up a level and passed their tests, but somehow it's become "unfair" to compare Joshua to Fury ...

I think Joshua did well last night. NONE of his previous fights were even fights, so I never understood all this hype he's been getting (from fans, it's understandle from his promoter and Sky).
He's moved up a notch in my book.

For some strange reason.. Some fans have this view that fighters should never be hit, rocked or hurt at any time in a fight.

If they are then they are no good.

It's it a crazy view to have.

I'm sorry but this is a ludicrous comparison. Fury was only 21 I think at the time of that fight and had 10 or less fights.

Even the title of this thread is misleading 'give the kid a break'. He is 26 years old only 14 months younger than Fury. The issue for me is that he was being built up as this monster yet looked flawed when someone stood up to him. Bear in mind we don't have a clue how good Whyte is and the reason the knockout came imo was Whyte himself was completely gassed.

Regardless of his age, he has been pro for about 2 or 3 years tops and people are on his back claiming he is over rated because Wlad would ko him.... Wlad who has been pro for decades and had nearly 70 fights lol

Same with Eubank. Being overlooked on here because he would get beat by ggg or quillin who both have a couple of years experience on him and he even says himself he needs a couple more years to be ready for ggg. Time for people in this country to start getting behind there prospects rather than comparing a 15 fight pro for 2 years with Wladamir Klitschko...

I was more pleased that we actually saw some flaws in Joshua and saw something different other than him blasting a guy out within 2 rounds. The kid did good last night and has plenty of time to improve.

Unfortunately a fight vs Chisora shows us nothing.

Joshua is better than Bruno was at same stage of career IMO

More power and can take a punch without losing his senses like Bruno used to

Bruno went on to win a world title

And he fought in an era when the Heavyweights were way tougher IMO

It's easy to say Joshua isn't world class but does anyone want to name the current world class heavyweights that are active?

    Who are these guys?

It's a very weak division IMO

They are all vulnerable in their own way

Hearn said he may target winner of IBF world title fight for a super fight in the summer for those who haven't heard

So the camp think Joshua is closer to a world title than a few on here
