"Is it possible to scan or photograph a couple of pages as a sample and send to my yahoo mail address? The site only has the scan of the cover."

It may take some doing to locate it, but once I do I will be in contact.

"A Pictorial History of Boxing" by Nat Fleischer and Sam Andre is very good.

I just want to figure whether it's a source that can be relied upon, by cross-checking a few of the fights it is listing, and which of the two was more accurate, Pierce Egan or John Badc ock.

In that case, would the two voumes of 'The Fancy' by Bad**** be of any use? I can put my hands on both of those right now.

Nah, I have 'Selections from the Fancy' published in 1972 by Imprint Society, which I believe contains extracts from original book, and it mostly consists of anecdotes, rather than facts. I just want to figure for myself whether John Bee's accusations of inaccuracies in Pierce Egan's books were justified or not.

I believe this is the book that an upcoming movie about Duran is based on. De Niro playing Arcel should be interesting.

one of the best ive read is Benny about wee Benny Lynch by John Burrows.
I also like Battling Jack about Jackie Turpin and Bummy Davis by Ron Ross.
i lent boxing confidential by Jim Brady to the other coach in our boxing club who kindly handed it on to somebody else and that was another good un'
im going to get hard luck about Jerry Quarry soon and keep it.

The Joe Choynski book by Chris Laforce is a fantastic read especially if you're interested in that era .... Fitz, Jeffries, Corbett etc. It's a bit pricey but you get a lot of book for your money.

Personally, I thought the Quarry biography was poor for pretty much the reasons mentioned in this thread on boxrec:

'The Name of the Game' by Adam Heach. Story of Thad Spancer & manager Willie Ketchum & other heavies of that era (such as Amos Lincoln etc.) an excellent read.

Yeah, please quote from Nat's wonderfully enlightened description of Battling Siki...
