That's only when you measure reach from armpit to the fist on each side. Kovalev has the larger frame with broader shoulders and wider back/wingspan. It will seem like 5 inches when they're in the ring.
Kovalev is pretty robotic being straight up with little to no head movement. Ward's hand speed is about 3 times that of Kovalev and Ward's defence is at the Mayweather level. $100 to $10 bet that Ward out jabs Kovalev and sets up perfect combinations off the jab.
This. Ward would control the distance against Kovalev and is much quicker. He will beat Kovalev to the punch all night long. Kovalev has a puncher's chance, in fact, a good puncher's chance but his jab will not determine the outcome of the fight.
as soon as ward gets touched by kovalev's power he will go in to survival mode just like everyone else LOL.if ward tries to cheat like he usually does by headbutting and holding kovalev can handle that like he did with hopkins who is the master of those tactics.ward wont be able to do a thing against kovalev he's going to get crushed.
Ward is also stated to be two inches taller than Kovalev which nullifies that little reach advantage, punching in an upwards angle takes away reach. Range-effect would be a more accurate measurement in height+reach=range-effect.
Not so sure about that. IIRC Boxrec has them at the same height. I think Kovalev's alleged reach advantage wont be a factor. Ward is the superior boxer and I think Kovalev would be better served by brawling than boxing with Andre Ward. Ward wins a boxing match easy..
Wlad did not get knocked down and won some rounds it was much closer than Kovalev vs hopkins , wlad from five years ago would have ko or wide ud fury
Different weight classes , but yes 35yo hopkins prob would have UD kova and 35 year old wlad would have won against fury.
what a funny clown you are, I bet you are the same clown who picked hopkins to beat kovalev before they fought and after kovalev schooled hopkins you and you're kind now use these sorry excuses.:rofl:rofl:rofl
An upward angle from a 2-inch height advantage is 1.5 degrees which will not take away any reach advantage if it exists. What is important is that reach measurements are highly inaccurate, so 1-inch advantage in reality can be zero or even negative. Reach advantage wouldn't play any role in this imaginary fight which will never happen. What is important is that Kovalev knocks people down with his jab, while Ward is feather-fisted. One jab landed by Kovalev will have more effect than 3 landed by Ward.
Lots of people, who have forgotten more about boxing than you will ever know, also picked Hopkins. Bernard is a legend. Kovalev, OTOH, knocks over TOMATO KANs...
He gave the beating of his lifetime to Bhop, I felt sorry for the old warrior. I think Kova could have done more but he was afraid of a 2nd stiff on his conscience
