Only just seen the fight and was fairly impressed. However, Mitchell was terrible... he was reckless, terrible head movement and with a sloppy defense. I think the Linares fight just about finished Mitchell off, so it is hard to gauge just how good he is. People are saying he will take Crolla's head off but for now I am not totally convinced.
bold prediction, so i presume you rate mitchell higher then crolla? I think Hearn would rather stick Anthony in with the winner of Flannegan v Matthews then Barroso
Yeah would actually pick Mitchell over Crolla. Fair play to Crolla for winning a world title thoroughly deserved, think a lot of fighters could of beaten Perez though he looked awful in those 2 fights. Dirty Derry also got the better of Crolla over 2 fights remember, so could see Barroso being to much to be honest. Would love to be proved wrong!
IMO mitchell wasnt terrible, he was just himself. I made a thread with the prediction and break down here. Barroso can make some noise on the big stage http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=554729
We all know he had a head full of hair as you lied about him having cancer you disgusting piece of vermin.
Barroso looked a different fighter Saturday from what I watched on YouTube. Saturday Barroso looked very capable, very relaxed and very confident. He was far more mobile and slippery than I thought he would be, he looks a handful on Saturdays nights evidence. I'm not sure on the power but he put Mitchell down with a jab, so Mitchell's punch resistance has either completely gone or Barosso is seriously heavy handed. Maybe it was a bit of both. Hearn laughed when he was asked in an interview if Barosso was next for Crolla, then said something about a unification fight for Crolla. I think that's a little off, Barosso earned his shot, they called it an eliminator and set it up for Mitchell, it is only right Barosso gets his shot in my opinion.
No, he had the same defense as normal. He always had holes as I pointed out in my thread before the fight. And In round 1 He did his goto failsafe scoring move of taking a big step inside shifting weight into southpaw and generating a huge power left... except he immediately got knocked back by a counter power hook back for his trouble, which ive never seen one opponent do to him before, there usually confused. Barroso is the real deal. This matchup was all bad for him stylistially.
Mate at times Mitchell was just walking back in straight lines and seemed puzzled when Barroso was loading up, I thought he looked flat
Somebody said to me Hearn should take some responsibility for this result and questioned him as a matchmaker. Looking back (hindsight is a wonderful thing) Mitchell was coming off a loss, a little bit of a savage ending against Linares and was thrown in with fighter who's record suggested he could really bang and was a little bit of a mystery to quite a few people, and like you said it was a bad stylistic match up for Mitchell. was it poor matchmaking? Or is it Mitchell's time is just over?
