Very hard to say how good Ortiz is considering the standard of his competition.

Jennings to his credit has been in with top fighters

Very close poll, I've got Jennings due to his superior conditioning. Jennings gives far more looks in the ring than anyone Ortiz has faced.

Ortiz hasn't fought anyone. Jennings said he's gonna make him cry

Good points. Leaning towards Jennings myself for the same reasons, but this isn't a fight I'd make a pick or bet on. Anything can happen in this one.

I do like Bryant's air of upbeat confidence as he goes in to this. He's seems to be on cloud nine. That's an indication that he's had a very good camp in his first fight with JDJ as his trainer.

Jennings by UD/late TKO. Few first rounds will go to Ortiz but unless he lands some huge punches (and I don't see that happening because BJ defence is way too solid) he's going to burn out in the later stages. Jennings also adapts really well to what he sees in the ring, that's why it's 60/40 for him imo.

Conditioning could become a major factor in this one. Ortiz better be in shape in the event that he's unable to score an early stoppage.

Jennings will go about his janitorial duties and mop the floor with this overated scrub.

Against Monte Barrett, Ortiz only had a 79 inch reach.

so you agreed with more than 50% of the fans and will give no credit to King Kong if he kicks Jennings a$$, is that correct?

i fancy ortiz in this one
although the weigh in might change my mind.
ortiz as a pro has only fought low calibre opponents and a few trialhorses , but you can tell he knows the game inside out by watching him in the ring.

being of the cuban amatuer programe means he has been a pro in all but name for all his career and would have faced all the top cuban fighters and jennings will have nothing he has not seen.

on the minus side cuban pro heavys are notorious lazy and lackluster in big pro fights its as if getting to america and a better lifestyle dents there sporting ambitions

    we shall see with ortiz

jennings fought not to get kod v wlad more than go all out for the win IMO he is a decent boxer /good shape/technically fine /but he does nothing outstanding.

ortiz is relaxed/looks to slip anything coming and shoot the straight left down the pipe with power counter.

its a hard punch to block

if ortiz is not in shape then jennings can use his legs get in and out and build up points , but i expect maybe wrongly that ortiz is in shape /drops jennings sometime during the fight and wins a 116-113 type decision.

Ortiz is a bit of an unknown. He looks like he carries a bit of power and puts his punches together well, but he's also a bit of a plodder and lacks top notch handspeed. There's nothing about him that screams excellence. He just seems like a solidly built stalker puncher who's thus far proven his ability to take out low level and past it fighters, similar to Solis before him.

Jennings is by far the more proven prospect. He's also just come off a really spirited performance against Wlad so he can clearly hang with the top dogs at the very least. I think he finds a way to overcome Ortiz's bullish strength and outworks him down the stretch. I think this'll be an ugly grinding style of fight where the more conditioned and more gutsy fighter in Jennings prevails.

This one (for me) is way too tough to call...It actually reminds me a lot of the Dominick Quinn-Duncan Dokiwari fight (back when both were looking to climb the ladder). I thought Duncan would be too big/strong and would derail Quinns progress but that was not what happened... :D

That said, I can picture Ortiz winning but at the same time, I can't picture Jennings losing so..... I can't make a pick!
