Why would any fighter let a promoter have "free" fights? If part of the deal was a failed purse bid would count as a fight then why wouldn't they exercise that option? They now can renegotiate if they wish to and after the reaction Saturday I'm sure they will get better terms because Sky will want Jr back on.
This might be the case back it's a risky strategy- why not negotiate behind closed doors? Something isn't right here.
True, it is risky but it is bargaining power, letting rival promoters know you are out of contract will have the phone ringing. If the Eubank's decided to do this with Hearn behind the scenes it would have leaked, a rival promoter who was given a heads up would have came out and said something to try get one over Hearn. Then the Eubank's would have looked bad, renegotiating with Hearn and talking to other people, this way it is all out in the open, up front and it is up to Hearn and Sky to do a deal if they want to.
Most of the football on BT now and Sky took a good big sock up the arris with the obscene sums in the new bid for mediocre English Premier League Football next season onwards. The sports monopoly is over and Sky will one day pay a big price for continual shafting customers. Surprised Sky don't charge people Pay per Poo for watching adverts.
Frampton was on the front page of local papers and featured in Washington Post etc before and after his debut. Mich like Hatton, a fighter with such a tribal following gets noticed.
I cannot wait for this pathetic hype train to be derailed. Honestly think I must be watching a different guy from the one some people appear to be talking about, this guy is utterly horrendous to watch. See better boxing technique at a local small hall show. Get him in with Jacobs and put us all out our misery.
Better yet, let them put their money where their mouth is and fight Golovkin. I'm sure the one they call Triple G wants a warm-up in May before KO'ing Canelo in September.
Don't think we are that lucky mate. Any world level operator would have been in stitches at the state of that the other night. This guy makes a ridiculous amount of mistakes, especially defensively and the very first time he meets a world level puncher he is getting brutally knocked out, anyone not seeing this is going to happen us kidding themselves on.
this is obviously all "seniors" doing , what the hell is he doing to this kids career , he was guaranteed being on PPV cards with matchroom with a chance of being main event status himself if he kept winning , what the hell is going on here ???
Here is my question Senior knows boxing inside out. Yes he's a bit of a nutter and yes he wants all the limelight which will explain him being tough to deal with and making decisions which involve ego. But at same time when it comes down to watching the actual fights then he has to be a good judge of his own sons strengths and weaknesses Most parents when watching their kids play sport will be extra critical and spot things they aren't doing well and let them know It's really interesting about CEJ to me. Opinion seems to be entirely split. Some people reckon he's going to be a superstar and some reckon he's going to get knocked out first time he faces anyone decent. But what is Senior seeing. He must think Junior is the real deal. Is it a father being blinkered or does he know better than us how good his son is?
A man who doesn't have a pot to p1ss in ? Eubank snr has absolutely no idea about business and finance. Expect to see Junior back on Channel 5 in the near future.
