In fairness two shakes I do abuse the life out of certain posters and tend to just abuse people for the craic but Iv never hated English fighters or get into arguments over people claiming them. Someone on this said I hype up irish fighters and abuse English fighters but he can't even give me an example of it becuase I don't do it

Carl Frampton is Irish? He is from Tigers Bay! I don't think you'll find anyone that came from Tigers Bay taking up Irish citizenship.... He's as British as me or anyone else on this forum.... A turn coat that boxed for Ireland, but he is still British.

If I was Irish I would keeping quiet about having Spike O'sullivan as one of my own after last weeks gutless performance. Contrast that with Ricky Burns who fough for 10 rounds against Beltran with a broken jaw... with "fighting spirit" like that it's no wonder we colonized you so easily.

    We're claiming Ricky Burns too!:D

Let's be honest, take away just the Irish and the Jamaicans and that's probably well over half the best British boxers gone!

Could argue this all day, although surely if he boxed for Ireland he must regard himself as irish?

You enjoy the game today on a side note mate?

Northern Ireland has a clue in the name. It was colonized by Britain but it's still part of Ireland as well. You can be both British and Irish. Carl Frampton has made his case clear that he sees himself as Irish so it should be respected.

Andy Lee lived in England until he was about 15, was born here, and lives in London so it's fair to say this is hardly England vs. Ireland.

I have family including full blooded Aunties, cousins etc who are Irish my mother is, I even have a second cousin who is a seperatist MP in Northern Ireland who I won't name.

Basically Smoking Man has been an embarrasment in this thread and owes me an apology and the animosity he has towards English people is a disgrace identifying all English people as being in with Jimmy Saville. Of course you're not allowed to say something like that about Muslims though but generalising all English people is ok.

Billy Joe Saunders himself has Irish heritage, which he is proud of, but is representing England. I'm picking him purely down to boxing ability and styles but I am a fan of Andy Lee as well.

 The Good Friday Agreement means zilch in this regard. It can apply to football to allow bitter Republicans to play for RoI over their country of birth, but Carl Frampton is a proud Briton from North Belfast. Geographically he may be Irish, but as far as Frampton is concerned he is as British as a British thing.

Carl, like Wayne McCullough and others before him, have no choice but to fight for Ireland as it is an all Island body not restricted to either of the 2 countries thay make up the island of Ireland. This also apllies to Rugby and Cricket. Carl Frampton is a British national with a British passport and pays British taxes. Geographically he may "Irish" but thats no different to me calling a Scotsman a Northern Britainer using the same logic.

Watch Carl sing his national anthem GSTQ proudly at a Northern Ireland football game. ;)

If he was as bitter as you sound he would surely chose simply not to compete for Ireland?

Interestingly there is not a single proud "Irish" boxer at world level who likes his country enough to bother living there

    Not that I blame them.

Stephen Ormond lives in Ireland and we saw in his fight against Belfast's own "Irish" Terry Flanagan that he's world level.
