Top notch boxer with a good dig who has just become world champion after dropping the supposedly KO punching champion twice and never being hurt in return. If Saunders had the hype machine that is Sky Sports behind him he'd be as well known as Benn and Eubank. How classy was his post-fight interview by the way? Congratulations and well done to a true fighting man.
FFS get a grip.....two average to above average fighters just fought for a world title, it was pants and BJS deserves all he gets but ***** has to do his normal stuff now and match him up against the worst fighters he can get away with for as long as he can before a good mandatory turns up.
Hopefully mick n Frank will use their heads a s put tyson and Billy Joe together on huve Wembley card
Well said; Billy Joe Saunders did really well, and made Andy Lee look fairly ordinary at times. He appeared to be pacing himself in the early to middle rounds, too
BJS has always been a talent and few thought he wouldn't be able to mix it at world level. GGG aside, there are know fighters out there at 160 that I would pick to definitely beat him. It'd be great for him to take on GGG but his previous comments lead me to believe he'll try and wait Golovkin out.
welcome back troll , that was quick !! for the record , saunders is a ****ing quality boxer and if you think different YDKSAB !!!
Saunders is quality, he showed it against Eubank and now Lee. The only faults he has are a lack of a killer instinct (I think if he was more aggressive he could have finished Lee off) and he has a tendency to take his foot off the gas at times.
Saunders is a great fighter, especially in the first 8 rounds of a fight. His weakness is that he cruises in the later rounds, often dropping rounds because he is just trying to stay out of trouble and get the decision victory. I had the fight for him 114-112...but he could have got the KO win had he gone for Lee the round after the two knock downs. Instead he barely threw a punch the round after having Lee down twice...which was way over cautious. Perhaps, he showed Lee too much respect at that moment? There is no doubt BJS is world class- and was a clear level above Lee last night. But the score was closer than it should have been because yet again he cruised too much in the later rounds.
Big respect for Saunders he made Andy Lee look like a fool in there. Andy Lee's lucky streak is a thing of the past.
I would score the fight a draw if it wasn't for the knockdowns in the 3rd. He was to hard trying to not being hit in the later rounds. He was never in touble, but the scores were close because of Saunder's inactivity. But Saunders is a deserved World Chmpion, he's one of the best technical boxers at middleweight. Good foodwork and good body movement.
