he doesnt deserve a title shot just for beating jennings who is a top 10 guy and a shot monte barrett and deserve a title shot ...but delahoya has him and hbo is gonna want him back wilder has to deal with artur zpillka and after that alexander povetkin ...fury is tied up with rematch with wlad ...will luis ortiz be the most avoided heavyweight??? who should he fight next to get seasoned to fight for a world title ?
How about fighting the winner of Haye-DeMori? Doubt Haye takes it, but the winner should be next in line for the Fury-Wlad rematch winner. Or take of the winner of Chagaev-Brown for the regular WBA title.
Another decent top 10 opponent, a Carlos Takam perhaps. If he gets past that then he should get a world title shot.
This. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I was a big Ortiz guy, but if I was a champ these days, I would outright refuse to fight him.
Well, I do not see Fury or Wilder taking on him any time soon, especially after his performance against Jennings. Povetkin eyes a title shot and might not be willing to risk it. For Pule (on past year form) it might be suicidal. All in all I think his team should be looking for a well known, former challenger that's a bit past having a real chance for a new challenge - Areola, Chisora, Charr. Carlos Takam and may be Ustinow are also options. In any case Ortiz v Jennings was an exciting fight and I'll be watching Ortiz closely from now on.
Ortiz was already mandatory as the "Interim champ" for the WBA, BEFORE he embarrassed Jennings. Fury/Wlad 2 will delay that a bit, so I guess that the WBA will force him to fight an eliminator against the winner of Chagaev/Browne, which is at least 6 months away. Ortiz will then have to weigh up the risk/reward when of taking a fight before an opportunity at a mandatory title shot. Also, I don't see any of the ranked heavies fighting Ortiz if they don't have to. So, next fight? A stay busy against a B-level opponent who is tall like Fury - Wach, Duhaupas, Ustinov
I think Wlad is going to go the IBF route, easy win for him vs either joker and he can avoid people like Ortiz, Joshua, Parker. Actually Fury being stripped might help Wlad finish his career as a champion. Ortiz is going to have to become a mandatory, at 36 he's not got a huge amount of time.
Chagaev-Brown winner would seem the next logical step. He's the WBA -interim "regular" champion, so he can then fight for the "regular-regular" WBA belt (ug)
The bumble footed de Mori will be exposed as way out of his depth against Haye. Hard to guess which of the top 20 HW's might put their hands up to fight Ortiz. The way I see it most will be running for cover. Hopefully his drug test comes back clean.
