How does Archie Moore's power at 175lbs equate to the two current ko kings of the LHVy division.Kovalev and Stevenson?
All three hit very hard of co****...but IMO Moore had more technique about knowing when and where to place shots, had a better overall IQ in the ring about setting and springing traps, and was by far more experienced...which in my view adds up to being the most dangerous of the three.
I think that Kovalev and Stevenson may well hit as hard as Moore, or even harder, but they both lack his finesse of delivery.
Moore had heavy hands, obviously, but his amount of KO's has as much to do with technical skill, precision, timing and finish ability. I suppose for one punch, Kovalev and even Stevenson can match his power. If Kovalev possessed Archie Moore's counter-punching ability, he would be putting people to sleep instead of grinding them down. Here is some evidence of the power and handspeed Archie Moore possessed even as an old man: [YT]g7ROEm1eLZ4&start=300[/YT] [YT]Jut6UYr6_M0&start=44[/YT] [YT]LF7wSmNaEW4&start=106[/YT] Young Archie had even quicker hands, probably more power as well. Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'd guess that both the modern guys had more one shot power but lacked some of Archie's punch placement and technique.
