Not sure why you bothered, you're both the hater and the superfan for this particular situation I was talking about. And I was obviously meaning the Margarito under "trainer" Capetillo who only had two losses until the wraps came off and only six went the distance with just two being twelve rounders. Also, one of those twelve rounders saw a fighter never again being the same either, Paul Williams. Nice try on the sugar coating though.
I like Lampley. He loves the fighters he covers. I have heard Cotto is a genuinely nice guy. Seeing him overcome the Margarito thing.
I did see the last Fight Game episode and loved the last piece by Jim. He went in hard on Margarito and reflected on what could have been for Cotto. After Margarito, Cotto was going to fight Oscar and it was meant to be the passing of the torch. Had that happened, Floyd and Cotto would have fought at their peaks and may have given us a great rivalry like greats of the past. It really is a shame what transpired.
Lamps was crying almost as soon as the first Cotto-Margarita fight was stopped. You could hear him on the verge during the stoppage replays on the PPV broadcast. Note: This was before the plaster/handwrap controversy was brought to light (Margo fought Mosley later).
