First of all, John - WELCOME BACK. I am so pleased that Ross and ESB management has brought you back to concentrate on the area that I believe you have the most to contribute on - boxing! :good

As far as Golota is concerned, I expected that he would be near the top of the division for some time. I thought he had a damn good shot of beating Lewis and Tyson, but he failed miserably. Even after those defeats, I picked him to beat the limited Lamon Brewster quite easily. Actually, I thought he should have gotten the nod against Byrd, and particularly that cheating clubfighter Ruiz.

Golota gave Bowe the beating of his life in both fights. He got thorougly beat up. Golota no doubt hit low. But lots of those shots werent even on the sack. Bowe didnt want anymore, and was faking many of the low blows. All I am saying is Bowe wanted no more of Golota.:ko

Both of those fights are going to be, if they arent already, classics.

I don't think he was a dirty fighter, in general. Listen to what Foreman said about him. "The guy just never learned to throw a straight right hand." And thats why he had no respect for his game & enjoyed watching this Euro fighter beat the tar outta the "best" HW at the time. George actually liked Golota, I think.

Watching those vid's of that fight brought a smile to my otherwise sullen day.

    Thanks!:good

    You make a good point...

Most of those crotch shots land on the stomachs of a sparring partners....Bowes a pretty big dude...

Still...although Im basically a Golota fan..it just shows you hes pretty stupid to have done the exact same thing twice after sure victories.

Golota has got to be either single most dirty or single most stupid boxer in history. I'm just not sure which.

    Dear Zakman
    kind regards
    In response to your comments.

Thank you for your kind words and campaigning for my reinstatement.
As ever, I appreciate your high class contribution to this forum.

Straight after Golota's matches against Riddick Bowe, I recall reading The Ring magazine from late 1996 to 1997.
The authors had very high hopes for Golota, I recall reading an article about matches that were yet to happen.
Well the author of this particular article picked Andrew Golota to beat both Holyfield and Tyson by TKO victories.
It seemed that Golota was going to be the unstoppable monster of the heavyweight division, that was how he was being billed.
I was pretty sure that Golota would beat Lennox Lewis, but was stunned by Lewis's quick dismantling of him.
I wanted Golota to beat Tyson in 2000, but it wasn't meant to be.
Tyson was very good at roughing up the big giants and he made Golota submit pretty easily.

Golota beat Byrd and Ruiz but was robbed by the judges, he was just unlucky.
Brewster was smart, he knew that if he put pressure on Golota early he would make him fall like a house of cards, much like Tyson and Lewis did.
I think that Boxing historians will see Golota as a contender in the ranks and nothing more in the final evaluation.
    yours thankfully
    John

    Dear JETSKI
    kind regards
I saw Golota's last match, he looks a bit stiff nowadays.
Hopefully Golota can finally win a title, but I am not going to bet on it.
I think that Golota taking on Sam Peter is a 50/50 bout.
Peter might try to emulate Lennox Lewis and Lamon Brewster and get through Golota's defence early.
    yours thankfully
    John
