You're being racially discriminative dude. You need to stop it. What we have here is an Olympic medalist who just made his pro debut. Doesn't matter where he comes from.

India has a couple O.K. freestyle wrestlers but nothing special and I have no idea if they even compete in Judo or Olympic eeightlfting. They are the only amateur sport I follow other than boxing.

You cannot deny their athletes underperform, particularly in relation to their numbers as already pointed out.

How? By pointing out facts. He didn't say they shouldn't be allowed to box or anything. Indeed India and that region does indeed suck at most sports, which is pitiful given their population numbers.

I guess all the great boxers in India went instead to call-centers instead.

Just seen his second match and KO victory over Dean Gillen.
Good and solid victory. He looks very strong and determined and I think in a year or 2 he can become a real contender.

South Asia, particularly India and ****stan, do under perform in combat sports when you consider their population size, but, you have to bear in mind that, historically, combat sports are not very popular in this area of the world.

It is like saying that Brits don't have the necessary requirements to perform well at baseball because none of them (to my knowledge) play in the MLB whilst completely disregarding the fact that the sport isn't popular over here.

If Vijender does well it may increase the number of kids taking up the sport and it may lead to some foreign coaches going to India and helping train up their fighters and coaches.

Oh look, an EDL scum. Well, China doesn't have many boxers either historically, and today. It's not about the population, but the culture of sport in the country. China have thrived from martial arts however.

Boxing has no real notoriety in India, it's been traditionally seen as barbaric. India are about THREE sports - cricket, hockey and badminton. India loves the cricket scene. It is like football in England and they are so good at it. Wrestling also.
It is completely the same for ****stan, cricket, hockey and badminton.
Both nations being elite/among the very best in these sports.

Recently there has been a rise of Indian boxers, 6 qualifying for the World Amateur Championships.

Boxing is not in Indian culture as a previous poster stated. Its like criticising the United States for never having been elite in football...

Either way Vijender is 3-0 now and doing well, hopefully he can make boxing more popular in India to further the sport we love.

Why is the UK so **** at basketball.

I just hate excuses... when you talk about the UK in basketball, 1 person always makes some stupid excuse when there are none, why lie just tell the truth! I hate lies. I like the truth. The End.
