Let's put an end to "21st century" heavyweight size obsession.

Before a round starts both fighters are -out of reach-, and before either can make contact, at least ONE has to come -within- reach, with the taller fighter making contact first as his reach comes into play first as they move toward each other

And if the taller fighter has at least equal skills to the shorter fighter, he can maintain and reap great benefits by this distance ( as in keeping the shorter fighter from getting close enough to land ) where only he can reach and then connect

that right there explains, in a child manner, that more reach(size) is an advantage
I still think this is meant to be a comedy thread as it tries to take the obvious and distort basic reasoning

First of all, no one who thinks there should be a super heavyweight division seems to grasp the concept that the heavyweight champion is supposed to be able to beat everyone.

If you can't beat someone who is 230 pounds or taller than you, then you shouldn't be the heavyweight champion.

You're supposed to be able to beat everyone. EVERYONE.

There have been small champions and tall champions. For every Wlad Klitschko there is a Mike "The Giant" White. For every Vitali, there is a Tye Fields. For every Lennox Lewis there is a Julius Long.

Tyson Fury is the heavyweight champion. Steve Cunningham, who just returned to cruiserweight, had Fury flat on his back and fought him on even terms.

    Enough of this nonsense.

Wilder has been hurt by smaller men. Joshua was just rocked by a smaller man. Klitschko was stopped by three smaller men and flattened by Davaryl Williamson, who was barely a heavyweight at all.

Again, if you are competing to become the heavyweight champion of the world ... you're supposed to be able to beat every man in the WORLD.

If you can't beat someone who weighs more than 230 pounds, you don't deserve to be heavyweight champion anyway. Accept that, or do something else.

That's the point. The heavyweight champion is supposed to be able to beat everyone.

Why is that so difficult to grasp?

But when you have a Mike Tyson or an Evander Holyfield that can use their speed to beat bigger opponents to the punch and reflexes/head movement to slip their shots then it's a different ball game we're talking about here.

Skill level is almost never going to be equal because fighters get more and more limited with additional size. Tell me one super-heavyweight that was anywhere near as skillful and well-rounded as Joe Louis. It's certainly not jab-grab Wladimir.

An intelligent fight plan > Physical advantages

Boxrec is usually far more accurate than other sites, they also have the more reliable Birthdays as well.

Amateur champion Roberto Cammarelle with 0 pro fights would have destroyed prime Primo Carnera.
Any 2000s amateur SHW champ would have killed Primo.

All your points are null, void.
