I don't want to see this fight just yet. Stevenson could very well beat kovalev and ruin kovalev ward.

She pulled out of a purse bid she asked for. If the money Stevenson would get is more than he would get with PBC then go for it. If not, **** it. Duva had a chance, and played games.

Since HBO sports has a new prez and it seems like he is open to work with anyone I wouldn't doubt that we will start seeing Haymon fighters on HBO.

Let me make a minor correction, she lobbied the WBC to rank Kovalev and make him mandatory. So when they actually did that, she decided not to participate in the ensuing purse bid. Was that more to your liking? Furthermore, Kovalev's HBO contract ended up expiring, and Kov was free to fight Stevenson, no HBO strings attached, but instead, Duva had him resign with HBO. Thus showing fans that she wasn't really concerned with getting Kovalev a Stevenson fight, unless she had quite a bit more of a financial portion coming her way. You see, Kovalev would of gotten a career high payday to fight Stevenson on PBC, or Showtime, or even PPV, yet if he lost, that means that Kov wouldn't get as much money from an HBO deal, and that Duva would get less money as well. Looking at how little Kovalev seems to get of his actual purses already, you might want to remove your face from Duva's ar se.

I forgot that all promoters are in Al's pocket :nut

considering Stevenson's recent opposition and TV numbers, 50-50 is a very fair split for him

What would happen with the Ward-Kovalev situation is Kovalev was to be beaten?

  10. Then Ward would fight Stevenson. I think. Or at least, I hope.

It's true that Kovalev is bringing 3 major world titles and is also coming off major wins, but Stevenson is also the WBC and Lineal champion so he's not exactly empty handed here.

She says 50/50, but it has to be on HBO with the money HBO is offering to the fighters. That is what makes it difficult for Stevenson and GYM to break their contract with Haymon. What should be done is a bid with the 50/50 split between fighters. The fighters would then get more money and the winner of the bid could choose the network. But Kovalev signed his contract with HBO just before their last bid and pulled out of the bid with a 50/50 split. In this case, now, it is really a network issue.

Edit: I wrote my post after I read the informations presented by Barcham which add an other layer on the matter.

Your intuition in your last sentence is correct. Haymon is nominally an advisor, but in reality, he's a manager, and one of the contracts leaked online a couple of years back showed that all opponent selection and negotiation must be done solely by Al Haymon.

    Stevenson can't cut Haymon out.

if that happens, stevenson shouldn't get more than 25%.
