Depends in which kind of shape Ortiz shows up. If he's in shape like in Jennings fight, then I could see him stop Wilder. Ortiz by early, lets say in 5 rounds KO. I would want to see the weigh in before betting in this fight though, because cubans have shown to be lazy after turning pro.

Wilder team would probably give him free tickets to donuts rooms and burger kings, just like they did in Nichols case and we all know how that fight ended. :good

This would be a great fight. In reality, he'll face Povetkin before he faces Ortiz, if ever. And we'll have our answer then. If he beats Povetkin, he'd probably do the same to Ortiz. If not, I think Ortiz may pose even more problems stylistically. Ortiz has better size and power than Povetkin, even though Povetkin is the better boxer.

Wilder has accused Povetkin of using PEDS etc. Thats a big sign that Wilder isn't confident to face Povetkin. Povetkin should KO Wilder pretty easily. They have too wide gap in the terms of skills.

2016? Negotiations alone would take 2,5 years.

Yeah there's no way this fight happens, I doubt Ortiz will be able to get anyone decent into the ring this year though. He's just too high risk of an opponent who brings very little reward. He'll have to use mandatory status to get most of these guys in the ring.

It might go down that way. I wouldn't be surprised, but I wouldn't be surprised if Wilder beats Povetkin either. If you look at common opponents, none are particularly good representations of each other, but Stiverne and Spilka(assuming Wilder wins) have more in common with Povetkin than Wach has in common with Wilder. Wilder (and his fans) have done plenty to make people dislike him, but I think people are a little blinded by their dislike of him to see it's an intriguing fight that could go either way.

Yeah, and time is not his friend at age 37. How long before WBA would force a showdown with Chagaev? Then it could be years before they enforce a mandatory against the superchamp.

I'd like Ortiz Povetkin. Don't see it ever happening though since Ortiz is WBA and Povetkin is using WBC at this point. Maybe if Povetkin beats Wilder, unifies against Fury (or Wlad), and then faces Ortiz as WBA's mandatory. They'd be at least 38 by then though.

Yeah exactly. His age, risk/reward factor don't do him any favors. The WBA are pretty lenient with that BS regular belt. If I were Ortiz I would try to get ranked as high as possible in all of the ABC's and become a mandatory for one of the belts. That's the best shot he has at this point, no one will fight him unless they absolutely have to.
