Pacquiao deserves massive respect for NOT ducking Marquez in 2004

Yes also for giving him a rematch. Pacquiao won the first fight. The one judge messed up his scorecard for round 1. Should have been 10-6 not 10-7.

 

Get real, the Marquez rematches happened only because Arum ran out of punching bags to throw Pacquiao in there with.

The third fight, Arum, team Pacquiao, and most everyone thought Pacquiao had improved by leaps and bounds and Marquez was to old and slow to compete with Pacquiao at Welterweight.
It was the fight where Alex Ariza stated, "not even God himself can help Marquez from what Manny is going to do to him."

Coach roach stated, "I've instructed Manny not to have any pity on him. Be careful what you wish for. We're going to shut him up!"

It was personal for coach Roach!

i am looking at pac resume the other day and it amaze me,i was looking at fighters that he didnt fight,but heck he fought the fighters he should have fought.

Round 1 should've been 10-6, yes, but Marquez still should've won enough of the remaining rounds on the cards to get the W.

 

I had Pac winning the first fight. I had the second fight a draw. I had the third fight a draw also. And we don't need to discuss the outcome of the 4th fight.

Marquez definitely won enough rounds for the win regardless if that judge scored it wrong in favor of Pac.

He's 4-0 in my book and I don't feel that should even be considered a controversial opinion, nor disrespectful to Manny. The first three were all close battles and good style match-ups but Márquez swept them clearly IMO.

 

I could be mistaken but I think I heard that a judge doesn't have to score every knockdown in a round in order to not put the fighter way behind on points. But this was round 1 and Marquez still had 11 rounds to rally. I understand this thinking in the late rounds but not rounds 1-3.

 

Each decision was worse than the one that preceded it. III was a huge robbery, I merely a "wrong decision". II somewhere in the middle.

 

All 3 fights could have went either way. I think the judges robbed Marquez in the 3rd fight because Nacho was bashing the judges after the 2nd fight! They should have told the old prune face to shut his gums!
