Muhammad Ali VS Lennox Lewis

It could go either way.

Ali was not unbeatable and he never faced anyone as good as Lewis.

 

Lewis is smart,big,strong,powerful,skilled he used his size and reach pretty well.ali did not have the single ko punch to worry lennox and he was smart enough to dont get gassed late. So its a very hard fight for the greatest , i think that lewis could beat 71 rusty ali,63 green clay and post 74 . peak ali wins by competitive MD basically with his súper speed,reflexes,stamina confindence and magic .74 ali is 50/50 fight

 

My opinion. In dream fights / fantasy match up you must pick two at their best. Their best performance.

It could be ali 63-67 VS lewis 1996-2000

Ali. No contest. Simply. Too fast.

Ali who beat liston, cooper, folley, & cleveland williams
VS
Lewis who beat golota,botha,holyfield,& briggs & tua.

 

Ali beats all big guys.


Lewis was great but he's a big guy.

 

Lewis would be better off laying back and trying to make Ali come forward and try to catch him coming in. If he tries to be the aggressor, Ali will use his superior movement and reflexes to out box Lewis and make Lewis look like a clumsy plodder. I don't think Ali would fall for Lewis's traps. Ali by clear UD.

 

Mccall and Rachman did and won.

Hell, Lewis couldnt hurt Mccall in rematch despite Mccall putting his guard own. He fought mid 30 Mercer and got lucky split decision, was outjabbed by the older and shorter Mercer, now let alone Prime Ali and Ali has never been stopped by a single punch even when's already suffering parkinson. Think about Ali condition when he fought Holmes and how many powerfull punches Holmes landed and Ali never went down once.

Bowe might ducked Lewis but the truth is , Bowe brutalized prime Holyfield twice and Lewis never come close to stopping a past prime Holyfield. Lewis fought Holyfield who has been in multiple war against Bowe, Tyson, Mercer, Moorer and even went 12 round against Foreman. He fought Ruddock who has been destroyed by Tyson in almost 20 rounds ,knocked down 4 times in total + broken jaw, and finished the rematch with disfigured face and dislocated jaw.


Prime vs prime, I'd pick Ali with 30% chance of KO victory.

Lewis brings huge power and bigger dimensions than Ali has ever faced, to the party, as well as a varied repertoire of punches. He's not a one trick pony. His chin's not great, but Ali's not a great puncher, so he's safe on that score. I think that Ali would well be within the scope of an ATG like Lewis to beat.

Where I do see a problem for Lewis is if he had one of his "off" nights. Frankly Ali would tool that version of Lewis so badly Lennox would have to walk around with a paper bag over his head for the rest of his life.

The reverse can't be said about Muhammad. Ali very rarely ever came out of shape to his fights, and that consistency stood him in good stead.

 

the times ali lost there were always migitating factors. Not so with lennox, not to the same degree at allanyway.


so comparing losses is a lost cause.


but ali has all the tools to beat lennox.

 

I can't imagine Lewis ever beating prime Ali.

Ali would slap him silly.

 

Ali is just too quick. Big men never bothered Ali. It was the smaller hwts that better matched his speed that gave Ali trouble. Ali by late round TKO in a fight where he is winning most every round.

 

I pretty much agree with this,with the caveat that, next to Ali ,a focused Lewis is the worst stylistic night mare for the other heavyweight champs.
