Similar injury, though Haye's Dr said his was career ending whereas Dres said it was a yr of recovery. Haye is essentially self promoted and does bring more fans into the stadium, thus a bigger potential payday and perhaps a more compelling reason for taking the stiff fight. That said..... Dre dragged a fat MW up to LHW who had 5 Ls and a mere 49% KO rate, thus taking away any potential ring rust punchers chance. Haye OTOH, has been away 3 yrs, and is coming back fighting a hungry fighter who's on the cusp of contention and could simply Leapei and Tor Hamer his way to a title fight vs Browne/Chagaev or Wilder. DeMori also has a near 80% KO rate so his circumstantial punchers chance is highly increased as he will not only be the bigger man, but also the hungrier and stronger man. What say you? Is this a SERIOUS comeback for Haye? Was it a SERIOUS comeback for Ward? Who's fighting/fought the better opposition in their comebacks.
With Arreolas recent win over Kauffman, I think Haye should target Arreola, get that WBC ranking and go that route. Potvetkin will likely be holding the title by the time Haye gets there, but Browne Chagaev winner would be a nice consolation prize while he waits out Potvetkin/Fury/Wlad. Get ahold of that WBA title and he could force a title shot. Though it's doubtful that Wlad fights him again. If he beats Fury in their rematch this yr, he'll get a mandate for whoever is holding his IBF title, and regain that then retire. :think
Yeah, Haye will likely fight someone at least in the top 20 next time out, whereas Ward will likely wait til Aug to get back in the ring and it will be vs a former LMW......maybe he can get Rubio to come up to a 180lb CW.:think
