Excellent thread. Kelly continues to be underrated that I can only guess has to do with his personal demons.

Lennox Lewis' commentary usually sucked, but I enjoyed the job he did during Pavlik vs Taylor I. You could honestly hear the excitement in Lewis' voice when Kelly rose from the canvas to fight back and eventually stop Taylor.

    "He's a tough cookie from Youngstown!!!"----Lennox Lewis

I disagree about the Sergio fight. It looked like Sergio got lucky with that cut, because Kelly was starting to come on.

Just rewatched Pavlik vs Miranda because of this thread.

I remember being so pumped for that fight

First round was bombs away... awesome opening round. Miranda landed a nice right hand bomb on Pavlik, if he didn't have a good chin that would have had him down.

One thing while watching the Miranda fight.

    - I can not express how happy I am Merchant is no longer on HBO. Horrible announcer (imo, I know he has his fans though)

    - Miranda was as good as Miranda gets in that fight, he just didn't have the ability or skill to compete.

    - Sick, sick fight. Awesome showdown between two big middleweight knock out punchers.

That fight is what propelled him to the top. I even thought this fight with Miranda was the end of Kelly's run.

To show you just how big a fan I was of Kelly Pavlik, I was in the arena in AC the night Kelly KO'ed Taylor. Sept. 29, 2007.

The last time anybody saw a prime, well trained and focused Kelly Pavlik was his title win against Taylor.
