Wilder didn't look good in that fight but his right hand saved him because it was a devastating highlight reel knockout. I would say that his stock actually went up with the casuals and the way he showed real concern and the way he handled Fury's BS got him big props and got Fury booed out of the ring. As for me, I didn't like what I saw even with the knockout. Wilder is a fickle fighter and doesn't have the discipline and control over his ****nal that he should have. He is in grave danger of getting knocked out if he doesn't get control of himself.
That was 2 fighters that shouldn't ever be in a title fight. Maybe some continental ahtfhv jr title. But that's even stretching it. Haye should relieve him of that title then he can relieve the hw division of fury
First of all, it's difficult to say someone looked "terrible" when he knocked his opponent out cold. Secondly, I really think Wilder's underperformance was more about Szpilka's head/foot movement, awkward angles and energy than anything else.
So basically he couldn't hit a moving target over 8 rounds? Up to a point where his windmilling saw him swing himself off his feet. Spzilka was never going to KO Wilder, but he did do a good job highlighting his lack of boxing skill.
I'd say Wlad's non performance against Fury was a bigger drop for me. I actually didn't expect Wilder to win this fight. So, in that regard, his stock didn't change much.
This is what I was thinking too. Back in 2013/2014 his future looked bright, now hardly anyone mentions him
Iam not a Wilder fan but there is no point having a pop at him as he keeps winning and in devastating fashion they could have counted to 1000 .he looks awkward sometimes but his power means you cannot write him off.
