He's not fighting Barrera, I'm guessing he will fight Chilemba. If Ward was eager to fight Barrera, Ward would have sent Barrera a contract.

Why can't you talk about Ward's career without mentioning Golovkin?

    Ward:

    H: 6 foot
    Reach: 71"

    Chilemba

    H: 6' 2"
    Reach: 73"

The last time Ward fought a taller 6'2" fighter was Allen Green.
Chilemba has a great jab and a good right hand, possessing a good pop, but not as much power as Ward.
Surprisingly, contrary to belief, I don't believe this will be a boxer against boxer match up. Instead, I see Ward being the aggressive, come forward offensive puncher in this match up.
I expect rounds 1-3 to be tactical feel-out rounds before Ward turns up the gas and shows why he is the highest caliber in the sport today.

    Ward by wide UD

    What?

You think a fighter should select an opponent that he is sure he will lose to? In that case Froch would have fought a trilogy with Ward by now.
Instead, Froch fought Groves twice.

I give credit where credit is due (Ward, Froch, Mayweather, Kovalev, Pac, JMM) and shame to those who deserve to be shamed (you know who they are). :deal

If anybody needs hard fights it's Kovalev.

Ward has been in with dangerous fighters before.
The most dangerous guy Kovalev has faced is Jean Pascal.

Kovalev's resume is replete with softies.

Ward has been hampered by contractual issues..that is old as boxing itself.

Even boxing's darling Gennedy Golovkin has been hampered by contract issues.

Ward is in a new division and can adjust to the weight at his will, in his own time.

HBO is already onboard for Ward vs Kovalev....so the fight WILL happen.

Ward is going to totally expose Kovalev:deal

    That's right.

My sole concern for Ward at this time is Roc Nation.

So far they have been incompetent in putting the right events together for Ward that allow him to showcase his elite skills.
I'm afraid that by signing with Jay-Z the rapper, Ward may have gained financially at the expense of competent promotion.
Transitioning from music to boxing is not as easy a task as Al Haymon makes it appear.

Ward should be with Al Haymon.
Andre should look at that house Danny Garcia just bought.:deal

He should look at how Stevenson lives...and feel stupid about his relationship with HBO and Roc Nation.

I don't know why the hell he signed with Jay-Z.
It's got to be the money, but IMHO, it was as bad a long term business decision as Gamboa signing with 50cents.

Jay-Z has a history of holding people back.

It can't be about the money.... Leo Santa Cruz is living better than Andre Ward...and he's a damn Bantamweight.
